Shift: 7a-3p/ On Call
Hours Bi- Weekly: Full Time- 80 Hours Physician Assistant: Aligning with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Oswego Health, the candidate will be effective at working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team as an extension of the physician. The goal is to provide high quality, patient- centered, preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical care close to home. The primary role is to provide office, surgical, and hospital based rounding care supporting various surgical specialties. Surgery call coverage to be determined. Clinical Expectations: Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, pathophysiology, presentation, risk factors, and epidemiology of medical and surgical conditions. Demonstrates critical thinking skills to manage medical/surgical conditions with pharmacological knowledge and other relevant treatment modalities. Obtains medical and surgical history and performs physical assessments determining health status. Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust the plan of care as needed; also implementing physician orders. Documents accurately, completely, and timely in the electronic health record. Counsels and provides education to patients and families. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice setting. Surgically works as first or second assist during surgical procedures; completes pre-op and post-op orders; assesses post-operative condition and wounds; orders and interprets diagnostic tests and procedures. Assists with surgical call coverage. Systems Based Expectations: Practices evidence-based medicine to improve patient outcomes. Considers cost effectiveness and risks/benefits when making decisions about care. Continuously keeping knowledge and skills current by attending educational workshops and reviewing relevant publications. Participates in quality initiatives and performance activities, and practice setting departmental meetings and in-services. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to protected patient health information - HIPAA. Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program. National Certification and NYS licensure. New Graduates Welcomed.
