Hood River and The Dalles are beautiful communities on the Columbia River about one hour from Portland. The area has some of the best kiteboarding, kayaking, biking, fly-fishing, and skiing in the country, as well as many orchards, wineries, and microbreweries. The Hood River Valley has a growing aerospace industry, and has been featured in publications such as
National Geographic Adventures,
Smithsonian, and the
New York Times
travel section. The alpine views of Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams are unrivaled in this part of Oregon. The nearby Columbia, Deschutes and Metolius rivers boast some of the best salmon, trout, steelhead and sturgeon fishing in the world. OHSU is a leading health and research university that strives for excellence in patient care, education, research and community service. This position will be part of the OHSU Casey Eye Institute, which is a highly regarded department including 56 ophthalmologists, 7 optometrists, and numerous basic science faculty. Other subspecialty services include cornea, retina, glaucoma, oculoplastics, pediatric ophthalmology, ophthalmic pathology, oncology, uveitis and ocular immunology, low vision, and ophthalmic genetics. Our training programs include strong residency education with 15 residents, and 9 clinical fellows. This position will have a strong clinical emphasis with an established referral base and active surgical load, and will also hold an academic OHSU appointment.
The ideal candidate must be board certified or board eligible.
Oregon state medical licensure is required.
