Essential Function:
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities and projects concerned with the design, construction, and modification of CZ Growers, Silicon Casting, and associated Equipment. Provides technical expertise and project management for non-facilities projects and various facilities related projects as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs, specifies, and coordinates purchase of new equipment to improve manufacturing capabilities. Designs and coordinates modifications to existing machines including placement, utilities, and provision for future growth working closely with CZ Manufacturing department and senior management. Contributes to the implementation of Crystal Growth equipment and process improvements in conjunction with CZ Manufacturing and CZ R&D teams through various methods including 5S, Lean, etc. Acts as primary company liaison with equipment, architectural and construction resources, communicating company requirements. Reviews and manages progress of projects. Determines feasibility of designing new Crystal Growing equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors. Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials; conferring with equipment vendors and; soliciting observations from operators. Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment and; conferring with equipment vendors. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout. Evaluates maintenance programs ensuring minimal equipment downtime by analyzing maintenance processes and recommending preventative maintenance programs. Perform other duties as assigned by department management. Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Tests newly installed equipment/machinery ensuring vendor fulfillment of contract specifications. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Maintains inter- and intradepartmental workflow by fostering a spirit of cooperation. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Company Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate. Application of Lean Manufacturing concepts, including 5S. Perform all work related tasks in a safe manner and report any unsafe conditions to SILFEX management.

Experience with silicon crystal growth equipment design, operation and optimization is required. Preferred is a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (B. S.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to production personnel, top management and public groups. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as trigonometry, algebra and statistical techniques. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to utilize computer applications such as; AutoCAD, Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Manufacturing software, and Database software.
