Applies broad technical knowledge and skills in multiplescientific/technical disciplines to the analysis, specification,planning, developing, designing, integration, testing, andproduction of systems and/or manages and coordinates the systemengineering process. Supports the definition of system architecturesand designs that achieve "best value" goals of meeting performanceand life cycle requirements within allocated budget and scheduleconstraints while maintaining consistency within established Companypractices and methods. Supports concurrent engineering specialtydisciplines in defining system requirements, designs, andproductions.

Specific Responsibilities:
Supports top-level requirements, conducts functionaldecomposition and performance analysis of system requirementsand analyzes subsystem performance specifications to ensureresponsiveness to operational requirements.Supports and/or manages the system engineering functionthrough the effective integration and interface with appropriatepersonnel in all related disciplines (i.e., reliability,maintainability, etc.). Evaluates and conducts appropriatehardware/software tradeoffs to reconcile inter-disciplinaryrequirements and resolve conflicts between disciplines asrequired.Analyzes cost vs. system performance and conducts anassessment of technical risks/complexities/tradeoffs andprovides recommendations and justification for alternateconcepts/approaches to ensure maximum cost effectiveness andoptimal system design.Defines top-level system architecture and decomposes systeminto major subsystems. Defines and allocates subsystemrequirements and generates and reviews written specifications.Controls system baselines.Analyzes and documents functional flows, interfacerequirements and implementation techniques and methods.Recommends selection of equipment, alternate methods andprocedures to facilitate system integration and to ensureconsistency and compatibility among subsystems.Prepares system-engineering sections of proposals, whichinclude the performance of tradeoff studies/analyses,documentation of rationale to support proposed systemsengineering strategy and prepares cost estimates for systemengineering portions of proposed program. Provides effectivecustomer interface and technical marketing support through thepreparation and presentation of briefings and white papers andparticipation in program design reviews.Effectively monitors actual vs. budgeted system-engineeringresources to ensure adherence to negotiated budgets and systemsengineering management plans. Coordinates and conducts cost andschedule impact analyses of building/purchasing/subcontractingof system/subsystem components and provides recommendation toensure adherence to program milestones and budgets. Reviewssubcontracts performance against subsystem specifications.Coordinates and maintains requirements databases andtraceability matrices for subsystems by monitoring customer andengineering requirements through the production phase andguaranteeing adherence to specifications. Monitors requirementsand design changes to assess impact on system performance andensure compliance with customer contract requirements.Integrates hardware and software elements and verifies theoperation of subsystems. Develops test requirements and plansand identifies and implements test procedures. Conductssubsystem acceptance testing to demonstrate responsiveness toperformance specifications and supports the testability andverifiability of requirements.Provides system engineering support to production activities,designs and factory test/support equipment development.Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a technical or scientificfield from an accredited college or university and a minimum ofeight (8) years work experience encompassing a broad range oftechnical, multi-disciplinary responsibilities; or a Master'sDegree and seven (7) years experience; or a Ph.D. with four (4)years experience.Security:
All applicants must be a U.S Citizen or U.S Person as defined byITAR (a lawful permanent resident or someone who is a protectedindividual as defined by 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3)). In order to beeligible for positions requiring a Security Clearance, you must be aUS Citizen.
