seeks an experienced communications professional for the position of Education & Outreach Specialist II to lead the implementation of an effective education and outreach program.
This position promotes excellent public relations, using internal and external communications.
Provides technical advice and coordinates education and outreach activities. Analyzes and interprets technical information and develops communication materials targeted to effectively reach appropriate audiences.
Uses social media, web and other statistics to develop specific strategies to identify and reach target groups to promote participation and awareness. Plans and implements activities that support program goals and objectives, including educational and promotional activities, special events, and exhibits designed to promote or increase public awareness.
Conducts educational seminars and workshops.
Prepares and coordinates specifications, cost and quantity estimates and bid documents for procurement of contracted services related to areas of assignment. Develops initial scopes of work, schedules and budgets for consulting services on assigned projects; prepares or assists in preparation of evaluation of Request for Proposals (RFPs). Evaluates submittals to ensure requirements are met.
Serves as liaison to vendors, monitors quality of deliverables, and tracks performance.
Advises management and takes initial action established conformance when vendors/contractors are not in compliance. Responsibilities include a great deal of independence managing multi-faceted and complex projects and exercising a high degree of discretion in carrying out assignments.

May be assigned to represent the County Auditor's Office at public meetings and with the media.
Prepares, publishes and presents information, presentations, newsletters, reports, graphics, maps, charts, brochures and graphs. Develops and maintains systems to provide for proper evaluation, control and documentation of assignments.
Monitors and documents related expenditures for area of assignment. Develops and maintains an education and outreach plan for web, social media, print, press, internal and external communications. Works with managers and staff to develop then implement plans and programs for education, outreach and communications assignments. Collaboratively works as a team member with others to ensure effective communication. Coordinates activities and efforts to maximize program success in the community. Researches and prepares responses to communication
and inquires from the public, elected officials, government agencies and special interest groups. Organizes and coordinates volunteers and community partners to assist with delivering education materials.
Coordinates with and participates in educational and volunteer activities and public school activities. May coordinate and direct some of the work of other administrative staff or Education and Outreach Specialist I. Lifting and carrying of materials, equipment or other items weighing up to 40 lbs. may be required.
Certain tasks may require long periods of standing or sitting.
Will be required to travel to various locations around the county and may be required to work evenings and weekends. **First review of applicants
