General Description
Under the general supervision of the Director of HIM and Quality, the Medical Staff Specialist ensures all Medical Staff processes comply with organizational accrediting agencies, quality performance reporting, Federal, and State regulatory standards.
This position is responsible for standardizing and improving credentialing workflows.
The Medical Staff Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely completion of Medical Staff assignments per schedules and departmental criteria and processing applications of new and renewed members of the Medical Staff and.
This position will support and coordinate special departmental projects related to the credentialing process, office procedures, bylaws, rules and regulations, and regulatory standards.
The Medical Staff Specialist is responsible for coordinating and preparing data for the Medical Executive Committee (MEC), the Credentials and Medical Ethics Committee (CMEC), and all Medical Staff department meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtains, verifies, and maintains medical staff credentialing and privileging and ensures the timely completion of Medical Staff assignments per schedules and departmental criteria and processing applications of new and renewed members of the Medical Staff.
- Ensures all Medical Staff processes comply with organizational accrediting agencies, Federal, and State regulatory standards.
- Coordinates and prepares data for the Medical Executive Committee (MEC), the Credentials and Medical Ethics Committee (CMEC), and all Medical Staff department meetings.
- Works with the Medical Staff and hospital leadership to review and maintain the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations in compliance with organizational, departmental, and regulatory agency criteria.
Formal

Education:

Associate's Degree in a healthcare discipline, business, or management required.
Bachelor's preferred. Work Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Medical Staff Credentialing

Required License(s)/Certifications:

Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification required or obtained within one year of hire.
