Under the direction of the assigned manager, the Database Administrator is responsible for the support and maintenance of the ticketing software (currently Gateway Ticketing System), associated hardware, and related reporting systems. Through the use of specialized software, (currently Galaxy and Handshake), the Database administrator role includes reporting, capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, as well as backup and data recovery. Managing data quality and assuring that organizational applications meet the enterprise goals; establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the management and security and troubleshooting of the POS application software and operating systems, within a networked computing environment.

The primary responsibility of the Database Administrator is to ensure the data integrity of our point of sale environment and strive to keep us technically relevant with our customers.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:

Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers. Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments. Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Database Administration of Gateway Ticketing System or similar system; manage all aspects of assigned software applications, including software upgrades, database support, reporting and system backups. Extensive experience with web technologies (XML, HTML, JavaScript, Web Services, etc) and of working in a SaaS environment. Experience in SSIS, SSAS and SSRS of MS SQL Server tools; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of Galaxy (or similar) software. Understanding of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) Coordinate with Technology Services on threat and intrusion assessments; identify gaps in information security; implement processes to secure data. Participates as an active member of Galaxy User Community to identify and recommend best practices for consideration; act as primary point-of-contact with software or solution provider; maintain working knowledge of software releases and new product features. Drive the continuous improvements of our service offerings to provide a state of the industry, seamless purchasing process; proven experience in identifying solutions from a people, process and technology perspective Manage routine system administration including: manage user accounts, manage support group changes (additions, changes, adding/removing members), provide users with access/roles within the system, Manage support requests with POS provider; resolve issues; open incident and change requests (e.g. submit bug/fix Incidents; submit instance clone/upgrade requests) with Gateway Ticketing System. Apply systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications; provides oversight of approximately 35+ Point-of-Sale system nodes at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. Mange system integrity to minimize downtime, as well as, hands on visits to workstations, and remote support Coordinate maintenance required with 3rd party vendors and internal teams. Provide technical support on district-wide information technology initiatives as needed. Facilitate roll out of new applications, upgrades and the addition of new modules Manage upgrades, testing and troubleshooting patch / release management issues Knowledge of technical components such as VPN, SSL and other such technologies. Writing test scripts Working knowledge of relational databases Facilitate discussions with end user clients to discuss business needs and design/implement solutions. Coordinates with IT staff the installation of new hardware; installs, tests, and monitors the operation of computer hardware and software; configures hardware and software to meet organizational needs; assist other Information Technology positions with POS server administration. Develop system documentation; maintain detailed records relating to purchasing and software licensing. Provide system enhancements and software application upgrades; maintain current knowledge of computer technology and user trends through training, review of technical publications, vendor information and other available means. Communicate orally and in writing with employees and outside organizations to exchange information, resolve issues or concerns, and coordinate activities.
