Position Summary:

We are looking for a strong, thoughtful Deep Learning specialist. The successful candidate will work on building, extending and maintaining Cape's Machine Learning methodologies, and work closely with our Data Science and platform engineering teams. This is a unique opportunity to become one of the early members of the Computer Vision and Deep Learning group at Cape Analytics in Munich, Germany.

What You'll Do:

You will develop and train state-of-the-art Deep Learning models on our large-scale aerial imagery datasets
You will apply established performance metrics for the evaluation of your work
You will own and run Proof of Concept projects and feasibility studies, from taxonomy definition, dataset creation, data cleaning, architecture selection, training, hyper-parameter optimization to evaluation and documentation, etc.
Must work with and collaborate with other teams (Data Science, Platform Engineering, Solutions Engineering, etc.) to support them with your Machine Learning expertise and problem solving skills
You are required to keep yourself up-to-date with recent developments in the Deep Learning research community
You will contribute to our continuously growing Deep Learning software framework

Skills/Requirements:

Expert knowledge: Deep understanding of the underlying theory of Deep Learning techniques as well as hands-on experience with one of the relevant Deep Learning libraries, e.g., Keras, TensorFlow and Caffe. Experience with OpenCV is a plus.

Strong Problem Solving and Algorithms Skills: You understand how to approach challenging problems and deliver pragmatic solutions.

Strong Programming Skills: Advanced knowledge and significant experience in Python programming or other scripting language including relevant libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib.

Self-starter: You enjoy working out problems and can translate high-level tasks and guidance into tested, readable, high-quality code.

Team Player: You want others to succeed just as much as yourself and enjoy working in a collaborative environment. You are working across domains to solve complex, large-scale problems.

Communication Skills: We are a distributed team in Munich and Mountain View. Very good command in written and spoken English and solid communication and presentation skills are key in order to work efficiently.

Education and Experience:You should have a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a comparable field with publications at the top tier Machine Learning conferences (NIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, etc.) or a MS with at least 2 years experience of applying Deep Learning in industry.What we expect:
