The Safety Program Administrator is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and communicating a comprehensive and effective safety program educating employees and minimizing occupational accidents and illnesses. Additionally, this position ensures a work environment free of recognized hazards while meeting federal, state and local EH&S regulations to include, but not limited to, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). This position is also responsible for maintaining required records, preparing and compiling compliance reports, and documenting best practices. The position is also responsible for developing and refining corporate Environmental Health & Safety policies, as well as designing, selecting and delivering safety training to all employees. The Safety Program Administrator is recognized as the subject matter expert in Ergonomics.
Position Responsibilities: Administer, manage and update EH&S programs to ensure the organization adheres to applicable Federal, State, and local regulations to include, but not limited to, OSHA and DOT regulationsDevelopment of EH&S compliance programs, policies and processesMonitor, analyze and communicate industry related legislation and regulatory affairsPrepare and deliver EH&S related compliance submissions/ reportsDevelop and deliver presentations and recurring training on regulatory compliance issues, to include policies, techniques and processesDraft periodic reporting and/ or responses to regulatory agencies, the Chief Risk/Compliance Officer as well as the Executive Management TeamConduct risk assessments for all departments and make recommendations to management for modifications to practices, policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment; implement corrective actions, as needed.Develop, implement and maintain an Emergency Action Plan and track continuous improvement initiatives and outcomesDevelop effective training programs that satisfy legal requirements and reinforce a safety mindsetDevelop EH&S training content, safety alerts and topics to be addressed by on site supervisorsEnsures Safety orientation for all employees as well as all visiting contractorsAct as the Subject Matter Expert in workplace ErgonomicsConduct ergonomic analysis by collecting, analyzing and interpreting data from employees and work environments. Consolidate and compare data with relevant and current research.Develop meaningful alternative solutions to identified ergonomic problems and propose practical design solutions specific to the worksiteMaintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, leadership, and external agencies and colleaguesWell organized and detail orientedStrong written and verbal communication skills Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or similar discipline8 + years or experience dedicated to EH&S management in a manufacturing or utility setting8 + years of experience interpreting OSHA requirements and regulationsFamiliarity with root cause and risk assessment methodologiesWorking knowledge of program management methodologiesExceptional verbal and written communication and documentation abilitiesDemonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedure manualsDemonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and managersDemonstrated ability to effect desired outcomesDemonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsDemonstrated ability to research and apply environmental and safety regulations and standardsAbility to conduct and appropriately document safety and environmental investigationsAbility to work with information of a confidential nature with the highest integrityMicrosoft Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)Technical skills and background in utilizing safety related software systems Desired Qualifications: All required qualifications plus:Professional certification such as CSHM or CSMP30 Hour OSHA general industry certificationPrior experience in the electric utility industryMaster's Degree in related fieldPhysical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
