Arizona State University FDM FM Tempe Zone D Campus: Tempe 49242BR Salary Range To be determined Close Date 15-February-2019 Days and Schedule Monday - Friday 6:30AM - 3:00PM Job Description Facilities Management seeks an Electrician Lead specializing in medium voltage systems to participate in the repair, maintenance inspection and installation of systems and journey level craft projects. Essential Duties Assign and inspect the work of electricians and trades helpers. Initiate corrective actions to secure satisfactory standards and timely project completion. Plan and develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and procedures for equipment maintenance. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems and implement effective repairs and adjustments. Studies plans, drawings and specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations. Repair and maintain high voltage systems. Prepare, plan, schedule, process and complete work orders utilizing a computer maintenance management system. Maintain time and material records, and submit reports. Determine material and labor estimates. May assist in performance evaluation process. Participate in maintenance, repair and installation duties in the trades. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in medium voltage circuits and systems, including cutouts, switchgear, and transformers on the secondary side, in generation plants 4160-12,470 volts isolating faults, replacing cables and operating all medium voltage controls and associated equipment. Troubleshoot and repair of high voltage generating, controlling, and distribution systems, such as repairing switchgear, installing and hooking up transformers, locating defects in cables, or selecting materials to make installations or repairs. Ability to communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform the essential functions of the job. Minimum Qualifications Seven years of progressively responsible electrical repair and maintenance experience; OR,Completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance AND three years of electrical repair and maintenance experience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Employee must possess a valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment. Desired Qualifications Experience in: High voltage electric power distribution equipment such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments and control systems.Diagnosing and determining corrective action for electric power-controlling equipment such as switch gear, transformer banks, and circuit breakers in substations and power-generating facilities
Demonstrated knowledge of: Applicable codes standards and regulations.National Electric Code, NFPA70E.
Skill in: Installation, repair and maintenance of all systems and assignments common to the trade.Estimating time and material requirements for work projects.Troubleshooting and repairs of high voltage generating, controlling, and distribution systems, such as repairing switchgear, installing and hooking up transformers, locating defects in cables, or selecting materials to make installations or repairs.Reading and understanding circuit diagrams of interconnects such as the generators, buses, switches, and circuit breakers in a power-generating facility or the feeders, substations, transformers, and interconnections of a distribution system, in order to diagnose problems in the electrical system.Performing troubleshooting layout, and complete installation, modification, and repair on high voltage distribution systems such as repairing switchgear, installing transformers, and locating defects in cables.The use of test equipment such as: oscilloscopes, power quality meters, insulation resistance tester, high potential tester, phase sticks, phase rotation meters, digital test equipment, other electrical test equipment, and cable locating and fault finding equipment.
Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills to perform the essential functions of the job. Working Environment Wear personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses, face shield, negative pressure respirator, gloves). Climbs stairs and ladder. Travel throughout campus. Work in extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, confined spaces (tunnels, man holes, vaults), intense noise, dirty environment, air contamination and hazardous materials. Lift, bend, and carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds. Work from ladders 6' to 30' using power tools for maintenance, repair, and installations. Drive University vehicle.

This position is located at the University Services Building, 1551 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ (on Rural Road south of Apache Blvd).

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.

Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test.

This position requires working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.
