For our location in Ludwigshafen, Germany we are looking for a
Senior Scientist as Team Leader (m/f/d) Tau Biology in Neuroscience Discovery Key Objectives Independently design, execute, analyze and interpret experiments to advance portfolio assets and address key scientific questions
Identify new targets, design, coordinate and execute complex target validation studies
Design, establish and validate cellular and ex vivo models for Alzheimer Disease
Sources and identify emerging scientific and technological trends from internal and external resources and evaluate relevance: Integrate trends into functional objectives to address critical project needs
Coordinate and supervise a team of scientists focusing on drug discovery for tauopathies.
Plan and coordinate complex experiments involving interdisciplinary working groups. Act as project lead
Effectively compile and present scientific plans and data
Read and apply relevant scientific literature to support scientific discussions
Collaborate with discovery experts in other biology groups, cross-functional (e.g. developmental sciences) and global colleagues

The position is located within the Tau Biology Group in the Neuroscience Discovery organization at Ludwigshafen. The accomplished neurobiologist will make substantial contributions to the conception and execution of new therapeutic approaches to neurodegenerative diseases in a collaborative environment with a focus on Alzheimer Disease and other tauopathies. A primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to develop and achieve Tau-targeting projects in alignment with functional goals and key scientific objectives. Experience with protein biochemistry, proteomic, molecular and cellular biology, microscopy and enzymatic assays would be an asset. Education and qualification PhD or M.D in neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology or related field with at least 6 years of postdoctoral or equivalent industrial experience. Experience in drug discovery would also be a plus
Track-record in neurodegenerative diseases with main focus on Tau biology and pathology
Expertise in protein biochemistry, molecular / cellular biology, including method development and validation
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of scientists and effectively work in a matrix environment
Excellent team spirit, intercultural and interpersonal relationship skills
Knowledge of relevant cellular (primary / iPS-neurons) and animal transgenic models of Alzheimer Disease
High scientific rigor and commitment to provide robust, high-quality scientific results
Very good skills in planning and coordination of complex interdisciplinary studies
A high degree of self-initiative, independency, flexibility and curiosity
Good communication skills and proficiency in English (written and oral)
Ability to present scientific activities/results at internal and external meetings, and publish in peer-reviewed journals
