Maintenance Assistant - Painter

Performs non-technical general building maintenance and minor repair duties. Performs painting, finishing, and maintenance of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures as required in a corporate office environment.


Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints, surfaces, buildings, and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials.

Prepare and cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.

Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment. Safely stores and labels all materials.

Maintains the professional appearances of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas.

Performs general labor work as assigned including loading, unloading and moving materials. Runs errands to support projects.

Patrols grounds, common areas and parking facilities. Identifies and reports maintenance hazards or other property condition concerns. Facilitates office access and office moves by providing moving crates, assembling furniture, office keys, nameplates, etc. Maintains key inventory.

Estimates time, materials and costs required; keeps computerized records and submits reports of work performed.

Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.

Prepares meetings and conference rooms, arranging tables and chairs as requested. May set up audio/visual equipment, flip charts and TV's within conference rooms and pick up when completed.

Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Researches, requests purchases, and inventories of equipment parts, paints, chemicals and supplies.

Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.

Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 1 year of experience with residential or commercial painting.

Knowledge of commercial practices and processes of the painting trade; paints, lacquers, enamels, epoxies, paint removers, and related materials, and of their properties and application; applicable code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; occupational hazards of the painting trade and precautionary measures to be observed.


Ability to complete the following trainings as required: SDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, in-house OSHA and respirator training.


Coordinate work flow for multiple projects; follow and give oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships. Work in a professional and corporate office environment.


Must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and work safely around exposure to electrical hazards.

1. Complete all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level,

3. Participate in all HSE-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc.

4. Report any conditions which you feel could result in an accident or injury and / or stop work if required.
