We are currently recruiting for an Application Technician to join our client’s fall protection business. The successful candidate will be given an opportunity to grow within the business through training and experience resulting in career progression. Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged for this role.

Purpose of Position (Summary)

Advance the core as Application Technician within Systems and Solutions group.

Support PG46.2 (Systems and Solutions) product continuous improvement, derivatives and sustaining projects;

Conduct key account presentations, training, hands on demonstrations as required.

Continually drive a focus on end customer application solutions providing pivotal support as needed.

Production of CAD models, drawings and product related documentation supporting application projects.

Design and specify non-standard Engineered systems applications.

Deliver projects in a manner that meets the customers’ requirements as a combination of practical and theoretical objectives.

Actively run projects as an individual and/or part of the Systems and Solutions team to continuously improve the extended line of product offering within the Engineered systems portfolio.

Engage with external customers to understand and provide technical solutions to their specific application.

Make key, data driven engineering decisions using appropriate analytical tools;

Ensure the projects are delivered within agreed timescales, costs and quality – identifying areas of risk at the earliest feasible point in time;

Liaison with peer Engineers and departments to ensure that key strategic projects are delivered;

To provide comprehensive and regular feedback to the Engineering Manager, Systems and Solutions on all KPIs, projects, issues and changes;

Champion change and both process and product continuous improvement through leadership of the business Change Request system;

Carry out other specific relevant duties on a periodic basis, as agreed with management, to assist in the efficient running of our business and contribute to the company’s profit objective;

Skills and Experience

Required

Cross Function Influence

Product Knowledge or experience within a solution providing environment

Project management and organisation

Education Required

HND Mechanical Engineering (or similar technical level)

Education (Preferred)

HND Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years’ experience

Key Responsibilities

Delivery of key Fall Protection Engineering Systems projects to support the strategic advancement of the core 60%

Actively run projects as an individual and / or part of the project team to continuously improve the extended line of project offerings 15%

The Co-ordination and delivery of Engineering continuous improvement and product line sustaining programmes and projects and acting as a support function within, guided by the Engineering Manager 10%

Technical lead on specific systems (46.2) product range, supporting internal and external queries, as well as applying continual improvement techniques to develop the range further 15%

Authority Level

Responsible for performance and leadership of a department, accountable for performance management and hire/fire decisions.

Decision Making

Develops departmental standards and establishes overall priorities, Authority to approve changes to established guidelines.
