Joining a busy and professional engineering team, the Electronic Technical Support Engineer will provide both in-house and on-site support for installed equipment for their expanding customer base (predominantly in the Midlands) and will include the following:
Pre-install testing & commissioning of systems
Documentation of customer facilities
Routine system checks
Fault diagnosis & repairs
Problem solving & resolution
The candidate will have understanding/experience of two or more of the following:
Automotive wiring and vehicle electrical systems
PLC control systems
Windows 7-10 PC & servers
Basic understanding of programming
The position requires participation in a 7×24 on-call schedule to provide support to customer base, this would involve initial contact, remote access and problem solving as well as site visits. The rota is 1 in 6. On average, around 2 calls per month are taken with a site visit required maybe twice per year. Most are easy fixes completed remotely.
Qualification: Engineering based HND or similar ideal.
A healthy interest in the automotive industry or industrial electronics
Good personal presentation and communication
Strong problem solving & troubleshooting skills
The ability to learn and progress quickly
An understanding of PC hardware & software
