IT Development Manager

We are looking for an IT Development Manager with Full Stack development experience, who is also a strong communicator. You will have an understanding of the full software development lifecycle including agile delivery methodologies with the ability to mentor, motivate and shape development teams coupled with experience in liaising with senior stakeholders.
You will discuss requirements with the relevant stakeholders internally and externally and be able to formulate a plan to deliver the relevant functionality from an Agile development team.
You will be involved in the development of new functionality and maintenance of existing systems installed in NHS trusts across the UK. You will be required to lead a fast-moving dynamic development team involved throughout the software development life cycle.
The role also requires management and progression of the Development Team, including hiring in skill gaps to assist in the future programme of work.
You will have a proven track record leading technical delivery teams with a solid understanding of the technologies, processes and architecture required for delivering high quality insightful solutions.
* Extensive experience of various software delivery lifecycle methodologies (including Agile frameworks and process such as Kanban and Scrum)
* Experience delivering solutions across multiple technology stacks, in particular web based applications.
* Team leadership, mentoring, staff development and performance management
* Stakeholder engagement, management and liaison (including both business and project)
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to deliver under pressure and to tight timescales
* Project planning execution and delivery
* Ability to think logically, challenge the status quo and innovate within their domain
* Ability to mentor, coach and lead others
* A good understanding of security concerns such as in UNIX environments
* Experience in the Health Sector
Preferred Technology Platforms
* Linux (Ubuntu) administration knowledge/skills
* Client scripting languages
At least 3 years of development team management experience.
At least 5 years commercial full stack development experience.

Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload accordingly.
Highly organised and diligent with an acute attention to detail.
Presentable, well spoken & leads by example.
Grow and nurture a team to deliver quality software in a timely fashion.

Ensuring effective development processes are in place by use of Agile methodologies.
Ensuring quality requirements are delivered to the development team prior to commencement of implementation.
Ensure that the team maintains program documentation and version release notes.
Ensure new projects are compatible with the existing systems.
Organise and lead the appropriate formal governance of one or more projects.
Manage the full lifecycle of complex projects, including: requirements gathering, procurement, design, development, testing, implementation and operational handover
Manage the day to day aspects of one or more projects, including but not limited to: planning and scheduling; risk and issue management; work and resource assignment; and reporting.
Identify and manage the change management aspects of projects, e.g. recognise the changes in the broader business environment; identify the relevant stakeholders; develop the appropriate approach; communicate with and train the relevant staff/clients on the appropriate changes; and generally win support.
Contribute to the on-going development of the firm's approach to project and change management, addressing processes, tools and techniques.
Ensure all handover, support and systems documentation is produced and signed off.
