PARA-PLANNER - £38-50,000 depending on experience

Support for Advisers

- Undertake advice research for advisers and to prepare Suitability Reports, based upon information received from the Advisers (Meeting Notes, Factfind, Risk Profile etc)

- Supervise the administrative staff in the preparation of relevant material for submission to the client with letters of advice

- Follow company procedures for recording chargeable and non-chargeable time worked

- Ensure that clients are billed, in a timely manner, for all chargeable work

- When advisers are absent the paraplanner is to monitor cover for essential duties being given by other advisers

- Alert the relevant adviser of any review events and is to initiate the appropriate letter for the adviser’s approval

Valuations

- The paraplanner is to oversee the delivery of accurate valuations to clients by Administrative Staff, according to 1st Diary prompts

- Where appropriate the paraplanner is to draft a covering letter for valuations for adviser approval

- Website/Research Administration

- The paraplanner is responsible for the continuing update of allocated information on the website according to procedures.

Expected Progression

It is intended that the paraplanner continues to improve their technical competence in their chosen markets, and that he or she will pursue the level of knowledge required to do this, through routes agreed with their Supervisor. These will include CII exams and in-house training.

Person Specification (essential/desirable)

Knowledge

• Financial Software – 1st very desirable

• IT systems – Outlook, MS Word essential, Excel, essential

• IFA Office procedures and compliance - essential

• Financial products – essential

• Pension and Investment knowledge - essential

Skills

• Letter writing – essential

• Financial Product Research - essential

• Excellent customer handling - essential

Attributes

• Very well organised

• Work accurately

• Able to multi-task and set own priorities to meet conflicting deadlines

• Enthusiastic team member able to work well with all other team members at all levels

Education

• Up to degree standard - essential

• Diploma (Level 4) – essential

• Advanced Diploma – very desirable

• Chartered - desirable

Experience

• At least 2 years relevant experience in an IFA environment - essential

• Experience of a fee based environment - desirable
