We have an outstanding opportunity available for a Data Architect within our Technology division, working closely with key stakeholders across our entire business. The role will be placed within our Architecture team and will help create and continually improve a first class data management capability. The role will also nurture and develop other members of our team in the best practices for data modelling.

Working with our Head of Data, we are looking for someone who takes the initiative and will drive our overall Data Strategy on a technical level. The ideal candidate would welcome different points of view on the same subject matter and most importantly, they have the ability to think from a “customer first” perspective.
Key responsibilities include:
•Consulting with business stakeholders, data scientists, and SMEs to gain a deep understanding of the business domain
•Acting as the authority for all data architecture and data modelling. Ensuring that all data models are fit for purpose, implementable, and meet the current and future needs of the business
•Establishing data governance processes alongside the Head of Data
•Mentoring data engineers in data modelling techniques and approaches
•Recommending ways to improve data quality and reliability of current and ongoing data structures
•Discovering new sources of insight and helping to integrate new datasets
Required skills and experience
•Strong understanding of relational databases, structure and design
•Experience of producing class, logical and physical data models
•Experience of Master Data Management and reference data strategies
•Experience of data lifecycle management
•Experience of strategic planning at Enterprise level within a data environment
•Experience in data-related business analysis
•Experience of developing solutions and processes to maintain a high level of data quality
•Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
•Knowledge of commodity markets
•JSON schemas including GeoJSON
•NoSql databases technologies such as MongoDB, MarkLogic or Neo4J
•Experience with enterprise ETL tools and processes
•Experience working in an Agile environment
•Spark or other big data technologies a definite plus
•Data Science experience

How important is technology to ICIS?
Technology is a central part of the ICIS business. The technology team provides the online products and systems to collect and distribute ICIS data to our global audience. We also create innovative sources of new insight – for example modelling of power demands, processing of European gas flows or tracking/predicting in real-time worldwide ship movements. We use modern technologies, work almost exclusively in the cloud and focus on agile development approaches.
