Project Engineer (Mechanical) - Bespoke Machinery

£30,000 - £40,000 + Pension + Benefits

Growing OEM based in Burnley

First-class opportunity in a rapidly expanding supplier of high tech special-purpose machinery for a mechanical engineer who will enjoy and make the most of this varied and challenging project role.

Role focused on building accurate cost estimates for high-value bespoke machine projects and once won then managing them through to effective completion.

Ideally suited to an experienced costing, project, proposals or estimating engineer from bespoke machinery or high tech product background seeking an expanding and challenging environment.

You will also be liaising with the customer at all stages, creating a clear specification and ensuring all project timescales are met.

Necessary skills include accurately building price estimates using spreadsheets, design engineering (3D CAD) understanding and project engineering.

They are currently experiencing unprecedented growth and they need an ambitious individual to create accurate project costings and then manage them through.

The Role

This a key role as the focal person in the handling of high-value bespoke machine projects. The role includes establishing what product best fits the need when the enquiry comes in, as well as using spreadsheets to accurately build cost profiles. You will also create an understanding of project progress with the customer, create a clear specification for the engineering team and then follow the project through including liaison with procurement, design and production. Essentially ensure the project hits timescales outlined.

The Person

This role is perfect for an ambitious design, applications or project engineer who enjoys working in a leading-edge environment. You need to be able to communicate effectively at all levels, whether that is keeping a customer informed of project progress or internally with procurement, design and manufacturing. The key ingredient technically is the ability to utilise spreadsheets to build accurate project costs, as well as providing an effective project plan to benchmark progress. Ideal backgrounds include special-purpose machine or high tech products although the person attitude and willingness to learn are key. An ability to project manage and influence others, as well as a minimum qualification of HNC and some 3D design background and skills are also desired. Above all, a first-class attitude to solving problems and communication skills is required to succeed in the role.
