Responsibilities of the Project Manager:
·Report on project status to Programmes Manager, in clear efficient and effective format.
·Monitor progress of projects with a “hands on” approach to ensure successful delivery of all aspects of projects, including an acceptable level of cost.
·Create effective identification of key items from CFT’s that threaten customer satisfaction / success of the project.
·Facilitates CFT leaders on a daily basis.
·Develops and facilitates CFT in use of “quick response” system, ensuring severe issues gain immediate attention of the relevant level of management, with time enough for business to react.
·Manage out key issues arising from the CFT, by working closely between CFT leaders.
·Facilitate the CFT in the production of timing plans for running projects.
·Ensures adherence to the company APQP system, supporting Quality Manager with documented evidence required to achieve successful PSW.
·Leads project milestone Management gateway reviews, with clear focus on plan vs. actual analysis.
·Supports customer meetings and presentations at a programme level as required.
·Ensures that monthly program status reports are available at month end to cover tracking of open issues, finance and ED&T.
·Assist in Design and Test functions as required, supporting development of DFMEA / PFMEA / DVPR.
·Leads supply of information to support supplier decision making processes for tooling and equipment.
·Manages suppliers of equipment and tooling for adherence to timing, specification, production approval and costs, supporting Purchasing team in sourcing decisions.
·Works closely with CRAM team to ensure customer expectations are met, changes to project scope are captured, information & documentation requested by customer is supplied in a timely manner.
·Supports design team in prototype development and production to ensure design, manufacturing and program objectives are achieved.
·Lead team feasibility reviews incorporating CFT and manufacturing.
·Will be required to travel, sometimes internationally to various customers / suppliers locations and plant sites.
·Minimum HND in an Engineering / Project related discipline.
·Prince 2 or Microsoft Project professional qualifications.
Experience of the Project Manager:
·Minimum of 5 years related experience in automotive Project management and New product introduction.
·Be a professionally trained Engineer.
·Detailed knowledge of Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, Daimler, Renault programme management systems preferred.
·Detailed knowledge of PPAP and new model launch control systems.
·Experience of full service supply – DFMEA / PFMEA / PPAP.
·Prince 2 qualification an advantage.
·In depth working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
·Knowledge of IATF16949 quality management system requirements.
·Experience in one or more of the following areas; Powertrain Cooling Systems, Plastics, Metal Forming and Fabrication, Assembly, Lean Production Systems.
·Experience and evidence of previous programmes delivered and customers supported will be considered in addition to academic qualifications.
The Project Manager must be commercially aware, hold strong mathematics and numerical analysis skills and hold excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
A competitive salary of £46-50k per annum is on offer for the right candidate. Please note that my client is looking for candidates that live within a 1 hour drive of Reading.
