The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and driving down costs, strategic sourcing, helping to lead contract negotiation, supplier management and development, and helping to improve, consolidate and optimise purchasing department processes.
The buyer will be responsible for:
Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
Evaluate and develop the supply base. Introduce new suppliers as appropriate to meet the current and future needs of the business, at the same time ensuring continuous improvement in terms of cost, quality, delivery and new product introduction
Contract negotiation including payment term, quality/warranty annexes and raw material indices
The identification, introduction and development of new sources of supply
Placing of purchase orders for products used in the manufacturing of our product range using MRP software
Order placement and scheduling for long lead time items in line with production forecasts
Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
Implement supplier rationalisation
At least two years’ experience in a similar role
Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Planning and organisational skillset
Team player who is creative, open-minded, methodical and passionate about their role
Working knowledge of 123 Insight manufacturing software
Experience in a manufacturing environment

Working hours Mon – Thurs – 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am – 2pm.
