Warehouse Operative

We are looking for someone with experience of working within an electronics-based warehouse environment for a new role based just outside Cambridge. You will ensure that all aspects of the warehouse activities are followed whilst maintaining high standards and that an efficient and accurate flow of work to the production line, through kits and material replenishment.


* To pick components for line production, kitting and subcontract assembly and finished goods ready to ship.

* To work in all areas of Warehouse and carry out tasks as required

* Goods Inwards tasks including receiving goods, checking stock in, moving on the computer system and physically putting away from both external and internal customers

* Ensuring 100% data accuracy of incoming goods

* Cycle counting and Physical Inventory checks

* To ensure safe working practices when handling and moving loads in compliance with health and safety procedures

* To log data using the company's fully computerised stock control system

* Providing a high level of customer service to internal departments in order to satisfy demands

* To ensure special handling techniques are adhered to and procedures are carried out to company standards

* To help maintain the company's procedures and systems pertaining to the storage and issuing of materials

* To ensure purchase orders from external suppliers are received, processed and stored in in their correct locations taking into account safe storage and First In First Out (FIFO) principles

* To ensure all associated direct and indirect activities are logged accordingly in the labour capture system

* To ensure production kits are picked, processed and delivered on time and free from errors

* Maintain Kanban replenishment systems as required

* Assist in other activities / departments as required.


* Educated to GCSE level, numerate, computer literate with an understanding of MRP based systems

* A hard-working professional who is enthusiastic towards the job in hand

* Ability to work within a team or individually when necessary

* To be a proactive member of the warehouse team problem solving and improving current practises and processes

* The desire for job satisfaction and ensuring a right first-time culture is achieved

* Enthusiastic with clear verbal and written communication skills

* Computer literate

* A can-do, proactive flexible approach to all aspects of the job

* Physically fit as manual handling is a routine part of the position

* Strong attention to detail

The following would be an advantage:

* Fork lift certified

* Experience of electrostatic handling procedures

* Previous Kanban experience (Lean Practices)

* Experience of MRP systems
