Head of Leakage - Water
Posted on Sep 12, 2019 by Affinity Water
Affinity Water are on a journey. We are revolutionising the way we operate, making significant changes and improvements in many of our operations. We are the UK's leading water supply only company with around 3.6M customers around the South East of England.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do and our vision is to be the UK's leading community focused water company. To achieve this, we have created a new Directorate; Network and Customer Operations. Their focus is to ensure our water is delivered to your tap safely and any supply problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently, with the customer in mind.
Our newly formed structure now includes a Head of Leakage, this is because we need to be better at it. We ask our customers to preserve water, we work hard to reduce the amount we take from the environment, yet we miss our leakage targets, for which an apology to our customer is not enough. For us to improve the reduction of water leakage on our network and quite frankly, to hit the demanding targets set by our regulator, we need a Head of Leakage.
As our Head of Leakage, you will be dynamic, being able to move quickly in mind and in operations as the business and customer demands. You'll deliver high performance, efficiently and with innovation. Our targets are tough, it will be hard work to reach them, but you will relish in this and see the challenge as a fun one to achieve. You'll be a chameleon, at one with data and innovation, using it to our advantage when predicting, finding and fixing leaks. You'll also love being out in the field, getting your hands dirty and understanding how things work on the ground. Then you'll be in the boardroom, providing updates against our business plan. You'll relish leading a team and you'll love what you do.
We want to hear from you if you have passion, experience and a desire to continuously improve. Ideally you will have knowledge in this type of role at another water company, or a contractor. Maybe you love what you read above and are frustrated your employer isn't this forward thinking. Perhaps you can bring some fantastic transferable skills to this role. Most importantly, you'll want to work in an autonomous environment where you will have clear accountabilities but freedom to change things and make them better. In a years' time, you'll be the person responsible for the press release to our customers telling them we have hit our leakage targets rather than apologising for not doing so.
