Give your career a new swing and discover the professional possibilities within Avantor/VWR International. We are looking for a Site Manager Biorepository (m/f/d) in Kriftel.

You are responsible for leading and directing all facets of the operation which includes production, supply chain management, distribution, and facility maintenance. Specific areas of responsibilities include logistics, archival and warehousing, inventory management, production, capacity planning and master scheduling, and may include project management, customer service and lab operations. This position will provide leadership and direction on a cross functional basis.


  • Plan and schedule all activities and services to support platform objectives.
  • Direct the activities of all functions involved in the acquisition, processing, storage, retrieval, disposal and value added processing of archived specimens, samples and products to customers.
  • Ensure current and accurate inventory control for each account.
  • Review capacity requirements and ensure necessary equipment, staffing and training is in place to achieve company objectives within minimal overhead costs.
  • Initiate and coordinate major projects such as plant layouts, facility upgrades and installation of capital equipment.
  • Participate in budget preparation, revenue and account analyses.
  • Establish business continuity plans to ensure critical biorepository operations can be supported at more than one internal site.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding facility operations.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture within the team to ensure constant development of processes and people.
  • Lead and coach others in maintaining excellence on cGxP, quality control, security and safety, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and quality standards.
  • Direct and oversee job assignments and plans daily labor schedules.
  • Maintain an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and terminations.
  • Establish department goals and budgets consistent with company objectives, and manages performance to ensure attainment.
  • Participate in budget preparation, revenue and account analyses.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and oversee adjustments and/or repairs as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • College degree in relevant field. Six Sigma Certification and Master's degree preferred.
  • Generally 7-9 years experience, with at least 3 years of leadership and/or supervisory responsibility; proficient interviewing skills.
  • GMP and GLP training preferred. Experience with cGMP regulated industries and laboratory operations preferred.
  • A broad range of management skills and experience is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
  • Demonstrated experience working with WM, Labor Management and Slotting tools.
  • A strong background, comprehensive knowledge of complex archival or warehousing operations is necessary.
  • A working knowledge of warehouse and transportation management systems is a must.
  • Must be able to give and receive innovative, creative and helpful feedback for team growth and productivity.
  • Proven leadership experience with solid interpersonal, coaching, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization, with business units throughout the company, and with partners across the supply chain.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluent german & english, written and verbal.
  • Must be a strong team player with a firm, personal commitment toward the business and its customers.

  • Must also be successful in managing effective deployment of resources, systems and personnel to enable achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution, trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
  • General background/understanding of purchasing, inventory management, and cross.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions with limited consultation with manager.
  • Understanding of, and ability to administer VWR's policies consistently.
