Senior Valuation Actuary (m/f/d) * Global Oversight for the Central Life Reserving Central Division

Munich , Germany

Central Life Reserving (CLR) is responsible for overseeing the valuation of Munich Re Group's Life and Health Reinsurance liabilities on all global bases. Within this division, the Global Oversight department ensures that appropriate standards are established and followed consistently across the organization. The department also helps guarantee that the Group has appropriately identified and reserved for the costs and risks from the contracts that have been written. The focus in CLR1.1.1 is on quality assurance and validation of the local valuation results according to Solvency II, IFRS, and HGB for defined units within Life & Health. This includes reviewing the adequacy of assumptions and valuation as well as related actuarial reporting. Furthermore, the accountability extends to maintaining the standard Life and Health Reinsurance risk model tools used for SCR calculation as well as maintenance and further development of the process and system landscape for Life & Health Reinsurance Valuation Oversight.e and Health Reinsurance risk model tools used for SCR calculation as well asmaintenance and further development of the process and system landscape for Life & Health Reinsurance Valuation Oversight. Your job

  • Developing and refining tools employed in Global Oversight, e.g. to validate and monitor appropriateness, movement, and adequacy of reserves - driving automatization initiatives
  • Building and refining the actuarial methods that underlie the valuation of Life Re (e.g. based on Solvency II) as well as the calculation of the economic capital
  • Performing analytics and reporting for senior management
  • Acting as a key contact for one or more business units for all valuation topics
  • Performing on-site valuation reviews in the international Life Re organization
  • Validating and analyzing the actuarial valuations for the global life reinsurance business
  • Analyzing large business opportunities with a focus on valuation and risk transfer
  • Developing and maintaining the relationships with internal CLR and other interfaces throughout Munich Re, mainly IRM including the Group Actuarial Function, FRR, RIC, RIA, and Auditors
  • Representing CLR or leading work streams in Munich Re internal projects, e.g. in the context of IFRS17

Your profile

  • Master's degree (with high marks) in mathematics, physics, statistics, or actuarial science, or comparable studies
  • Several years of professional actuarial experience in Life or Health
  • Membership in a recognized actuarial association
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and communication skills, and the ability to find solutions by looking at a topic in its entirety
  • Highly dedicated, motivated, and results-driven
  • Very good programming skills, e.g. in R, MATLAB, SQL, Python, R
  • Skills and interest in automatization and process optimization
  • Ability to present complex matters in a convincing and logical way
  • Talent for managing interfaces and building networks
  • Willingness to assume responsibility
  • Excellent team and communication skills
  • Very good command of spoken and written English
