The Area General Managers keyresponsibility is for Managing the day to day hotel operations of Hilton Sanyaand an oversight role of the Hainan South cluster hotels under theirresponsibility in keeping with all corporate and brand standards. He/she is alsoresponsible for maximizing performance and profitability, as well as guest andteam member satisfaction. The Area General Manager will communicate with Hotelowners and the Regional Corporate office as required, to develop and executestrategic management of the Hotels in line with Company goals.
Specific Responsibilities
-Managesthe day to day operation of the Hilton Sanya according to the budgets set forthe maximization of profit through assigning and delegating authority toDirectors and Departmental Managers.
-Managesand coordinates the implementation of all Global goals, projects, policies andevents, as instructed by the Senior VP - South
-Directsthe functions of administration and strategic planning of the Hotel for theimprovement of standards and productivity in order to provide the best possibleservice to guests, including physical improvements to the Hotel and equipmentin accordance with Hilton policy.
-Isresponsible for the accounting and control procedures in conjunction with theDirector of Finance, to ensure that control procedures are being consistentlymaintained in accordance with established policies.
-Hasa primary responsibility for credit and collection procedures and ensuring theestablishment and adherence to a Credit Policy, and reporting procedures formaximization and protection of Hotel funds.
-Hasthe primary and legal responsibility for workplace health and safety and toensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of allteam members any other persons at the Hotel are not put at risk.
-Maintains good relations withHotel stakeholders, ensuring timely reporting and payment of dues, and accessto Hotel and records in accordance with policy.
-Completes monthly andquarterly business review reports covering the operation of the Hotel asdirected.
-Isresponsible for ensuring that all necessary action is taken to protect thelegal organization of the operation, remaining informed as to legislation andjudicial decisions which can affect the legal status of the operations and/orits team members.
-Leadsthe team and is responsible for working with the Human Resources Director toimplement the Hilton Worldwide vision To fill the earth with the light andwarmth of Hospitality and HILTON values in order to encourage all team membersto meet and exceed customer expectations.
-RepresentHilton in the local community
-Ensures all Global HiltonWorldwide Policies and Procedures are implemented and followed and developshotel procedures in line with these policies.
Human Resources
-Developthe Hilton culture within the Hotels, encouraging team members to deliver anexceptional guest experience, and exceed customer expectations.
-Beinginvolved with support recruitment practices to ensure the right talent isacquired and that employment practices are followed in accordance with locallabour requirements.
-Ensurethat the Human Resources Department are focused on developing the skills andsupporting all team members through, learning and development activities, teamrecognition programs, succession planning and mentoring, and effectivecommunications across the cluster.
-Coachingkey team members of the hotel team and being a mentor for theirprofessional/personal development.
-Followthrough on mandated Human Resources practice as required by Hilton Worldwidestandards e.g. Performance Reviews, Team Member Insurance Schemes.
-Ensurehotel manning levels are maintained and cross-training programs areimplemented.
-Leverage our scale of HiltonWorldwide in Hainan South through effective cluster opportunities.
Revenue Management
-Leadforecast meetings to maintain an understanding of current market trends,competitive analysis, and price setting as well as what is already booked andexpected in the Hotel in the short and long term. Use this meeting as astrategic planning session for the business direction of the Hotel (pricing isdriven by customer demand and must be flexible enough to change the matter ofminutes).
-Understandthe Revenue Management process (Revenue management applies to all revenuegenerating areas of the Hotel, not just rooms.)
-Usetools to measure and focus on results such as REVPAR and RGI rather thanaverage rate occupancy.
-Leveragea multi-brand offering within the city of Sanya and ensure every businessopportunity is captured through our Multi-brand netting
-Drive both Hotel ReservationCare Center (HRCC) and Revenue Management Consolidation Center ( RMCC) tomaximize cross selling occupancy and rate opportunities across the Hainan Southcluster.
-Participateactively in promoting and implementing preventative maintenance programs,sustainability procedures and Risk Management procedures in accordance withHilton Policies.
-Preparea Capital Budget Plan for property renewals.
-Ensure Fire Safety andWorkplace Health and Safety procedures are implemented rigorously and arecompliant with local legislation.
Marketing
-Executestrategic business planning skills for long and short-term projects (positionthrough price and product). Measure business results and team memberperformances, maintain, modify or take action when necessary. Plan promotionsof products and services to increase profit and market share.
-Develop,implement and monitor a marketing business plan annually for presentation andapproval by the relevant Regional & Area stakeholders.
-Assistin the planning and implementation of the Hotel's sales and marketing strategy.
-Ensureeffective public relations are maintained. Establish good communication andrelationship with the local community.
-Accompanythe Sales Managers on sales calls a minimum of once per week for a minimum oftwo calls.
-Knowon a personal basis the counterpart of the position (GM) of the top ten localaccounts; ensure that regular contact is maintained on a regular basis.
-Knowwhat groups of special clients are in-house and make contact by telephone or inperson.
-Adopta strong REVPAR position to maximize hotel/corporate/owner return.
-Knowand practice the five marketing disciplines of Direct Sales, Advertising, SalesPromotion, Public Relations and Research.
-Effectivelyutilize Hilton initiatives such as HHonors.
-Utilizationof the Hainan South cluster to maximize cross selling functionality betweenBrands.
-Drive effective consolidationof sales structure and cluster sales opportunities
Finance
-Takeaction from financial statements and be cognizant of the relationship ofcosts/expenses and revenue. When fluctuations occur in either area, the GeneralManager must be able to relate the two, note significant variances and be theleader in taking appropriate measures to improve profitability percentages.
-Leadand direct the preparation of the Annual Business Plan, Capital and OperatingBudgets in accordance with Hilton Worldwide guidelines and management contract.
-Ensurethe Financial Services Division is maintaining clean, complete and currentreconciliation of all balance sheets accounts.
-Instilla clear focus and awareness on cash flow management within the Hotel. Specificattention given to Accounts Receivable, Cash-on-Hand and Inventories.
-Maintainknowledge of owner's minimum required return and be able to develop andimplement strategies required to achieve the short-term profitability goals(yearly) and long-term objectives (5 year plan).
-Provideleadership in ensuring that all members of the Management Team have up-to-datefinancial knowledge of the property's financial status and forecast for thenext three months.
-ImplementHilton Worldwide standards of report submission to the Regional General Managerand the owners. (All reports to be complete, accurate and submitted on theirdue dates).
-Tooperate within the relevant Terms and Conditions of the Management Agreement.
-Oversight responsibility forthe financial success of the Hainan South Cluster.
Operations
-Attendanceat meetings of all operating departments and chairing of weekly Executive teammeetings.
-Weekly review of Team memberovertime and labor use
-Approval of Monthly forecaston Sales projections
-Activeparticipation in the monthly Workplace Health & Safety Committee, ensuringthat it conforms to requirements.
-Ensureweekly room inspections are conducted to ensure quality standards are maintainedaccording to Hilton Worldwide guidelines. Follow up on action plans with theExecutive Housekeeper for any necessary improvements.
-AWalk around the property at least once a day to greet team members andguests, and inspect the property to ensure quality standards are maintained.
-Adaily analysis of the Rooms Report and Flash Report, following up anydiscrepancies immediately.
-Aleading role for the 15 minute daily morning briefing with the operationalteam.
-Reviewof all team member promotion checks and rebates, weekly, with the Director ofFinance.
-Operationalvisit and business update session bi-monthly of each Hotel
-General Manager weekly callsto receive update on key business focus areas of Revenue, Profit, SALT, TMES,QA and TMT.
Food and Beverage
-Maintainknowledge of changing global Food and Beverage trends and actively participatein the Management of Food and Beverage outlets, in conjunction with the HotelGeneral.
