What You Will Do
As a Cardiovascular OR Surgical Technologist with Dell Children's Medical Center Austin TX, you will have the opportunity to work in a busy environment within pediatric ORs. You will prepare operating rooms for pediatric heart surgeries, ensure that all of the equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembled, and check that the equipment is in working order. You will prepare patients for surgery, possibly clean, shave and disinfect the areas of a patient's body that will be operated on and then move patients to the OR and position them on the operating table. In addition, you will monitor patients' and assist during surgery in passing sterile surgical equipment, such as scalpels and forceps, to surgeons. Additional responsibilities as needed within job scope.
What You Will Need
- BLS Provider obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- One or more of the following:
* Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
* Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required
Experience in pediatric cardiovascular surgeries highly preferred
