About this Role:

We have an exciting opportunity in the near future to work on a Large Major Civil Engineering project for a Tier 1 Contractor leading the £1.9bn project.

This Tier 1 contractor has been appointed to the major civil engineering project on a Joint Venture basis. The project is well under way with Planners and designers and will shortly be hitting the ground. They have a need to recruit the right Senior Quantity Surveyor and Change Manager to join the team for this project.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working on large civils schemes, major projects background, either within heavy civils, tunnelling, earthworks, highways or rail infrastructure.

You will be required to help and assist the Project Managers /Site Managers and other SQS on site, with assigned Contracts to ensure a full commercial service is provided to aid the Project Lead to fulfil their duties as lead function, all within business requirements, Company Governance and Commercial procedures.

Duties:

*Defining and managing the team to a plan of work that integrates with the various other disciplines within the programme

*Understanding the requirements for change control Defining and ensuring implementation of the change control plan and processes

*Managing and assisting in the definition of a suite of processes and procedures consistent with the plan that forms part of an integrated suite of controls documentation

*Providing effective team management that facilitates the delivery of high-quality change control to the Programme Monitoring the effectiveness of change control and define amendments and interventions as necessary, and Assisting in the implementation of change control systems.

*Set profitability targets with the team, develop procurement strategy, and regularly produce financial progress reports

*Timely procurement, negotiation, and administration of subcontracts in accordance with procurement strategy

*Secure the best possible (value and timing) payments from the client in order to maximise cash flow. Ensure that payments are applied for and received in accordance with the contract.

*Make sure that the client is always aware of our financial and commercial expectations

*Ensure that all necessary insurances, bonds, guarantees are in place. Ensure the timely release of bonds and retention

The physical work will include:

*Large Earthworks

*Major tunnelling.

*Concrete works.

*Shaft construction.

*New substations

*Substation upgrades

About the Company/Client/Project:

The client is a worldwide Building & Civil Engineering Contractor, established in 1990 in the UK. Their core focus is on delivering complex infrastructure projects but also cover engineering, mining and services extensively, with highways, rail, heavy civil engineering and infrastructure schemes forming the bulk of their workload.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

A BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with recent relevant experience in a similar role

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
