TPA Services is a department with Retirement Plan Services that is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with TPAs, particularly those that are part of our TPA essentials program. Reporting to the AVP, TPA Services, the TPA RMD provides critical support to the TPAs by leveraging qualified retirement plan knowledge, expertise in operational efficiency and an in-depth understanding of the needs of a TPA firm to provide best-in-class relationship management to select TPAs and contribute to our strategy of being the provider of choice for all TPAs.
Job Profile Description:
Accountable for ensuring key stakeholders at the TPA firm understand John Hancock's and Retirement Plan Services strategic direction and underlying tactics and how these may impact the partnership we have with TPAs. This involves taking a leadership role to ensure that TPA specific initiatives are fully implemented at the TPA firm.
Consult with select TPAs to create and execute an annual business plan based on needs assessment of operational efficiency, training and marketing/retention activities. This may also involve assisting the TPA in the development of their practice by consulting on such things as best practices, mergers and acquisitions and business development/retention opportunities.
Act as an advocate for the TPAs by actively soliciting advice and feedback from them to ensure their interests are fully represented with regards to TPA value add programs, operational process and support, and marketing activities. Based on this feedback, identify trends and escalate to appropriate parties within RPS for consideration.
Represent John Hancock through attendance and presentations at regional and national meetings and Industry Conferences.
Establish and maintain strong relationships across the division with Sales, Strategic Relationship Management, and the Service Center teams.
Updating the CRM and maintaining reporting requirements
Liaising with internal departments to ensure client needs are fulfilled effectively.
Sharing best practices across the team to ensure consistency in message delivery
Participates in team initiatives to enhance our TPA programs and services
5+ years' experience working in a TPA firm or qualified retirement plan environment.
A commitment to attain a NIPA or ASPPA designation.
In-depth knowledge of current qualified plan rules and regulations
Thorough understanding of TPA business models, distribution channels, products and systems
Exceptional relationship building skills
Strong presentation and verbal communication skills
Excellent team player yet able to work independently and make effective decisions with minimal supervision
Ability to assess issues and react quickly in a fast-paced, growing environment
Ability to lead by example with energy and initiative
Manage personal Travel & Entertainment budget
Decision making authority with respect to scheduling TPA visits and customizing meeting agendas
Decisions at this position are made using judgement based on skills and knowledge already developed
Some decisions may require escalation to AVP, TPA Services
Significant travel required
