Principal Product Marketing Manager, Self-Serve Cloud

Confluent is looking for an experienced professional with a blend of strategy, pricing and GTM skills to fill a highly visible role for our Confluent Cloud team. The Principal PMM - Self Serve Cloud will be responsible for end to end success of the Confluent Cloud self-serve business. The role is a unique opportunity to develop cross-functional, and cross-product expertise in Self-Serve Strategy while getting exposure to a variety of high priority products and market expansion initiatives. The manager will collaborate with leaders in our marketing, sales and product organizations to help craft new business models, define strategies for new offerings, optimize packaging & pricing for existing offers, and develop global processes to ensure successful execution of the bottom's up self-serve model.

As a candidate for this role, you will have a proven track record of leading growth, product and GTM strategies in high-tech companies, specifically around self-serve and SaaS/Cloud business models.


Responsible for driving and influencing self-serve signups, adoption and revenue through working with core functional groups across Digital, Growth, Product, BD etc
Partner with product leadership to identify/prioritize products & features to be packaged and priced in service of the self-serve business
Partner with the commercial sales team to drive upsell and revenue growth from self-serve customers with responsibility for designing strategies for key triggers of engagement, messaging, content, SDR involvement etc
Utilize multi-point market inputs to design adoption strategies across all our channels - marketplace, digital, BD, direct sales, etc
Continually assess the effectiveness of our pricing and packaging policies to inform product and pricing strategy, reduce friction, and maximize self-serve adoption
Conduct deep qualitative and quantitative customer research to test strategy hypotheses on packaging & pricing
Thoroughly study and understand the Developer persona, needs, gaps and drivers of success and optimize GTM strategy to drive bottoms up adoption including product and feature usage patterns
Persuasively communicate your findings and recommendations to all levels of management through clear presentations and mastery of the qualitative factors that complement your analyses

What we're looking for

5+ years of experience in enterprise software (subscription and/or SaaS/Cloud) or other related fields; top-tier Management/Strategy Consulting or Product Management experience highly preferred; self-serve experience highly preferred
MBA or equivalent experience (eg, management consulting) and Bachelor's Degree required; Computer science/engineering/technical undergrad degree highly preferred
Strong technical foundation and ability to pick up and understand product/tech concepts (eg, engineering degree and/or product/engineering experience)
Distinctive problem-solving, strategic and analytical capabilities (Excel required, SQL/R nice-to-have)
Ability to navigate a complex business environment and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic, hyper growth environment with track record of building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
Strong communications skills required - both verbal and written
Demonstrated record of working both independently and with a team to own cross-functional initiatives and exceed performance expectations & metrics
