Director of Public Relations & Marketing

Danville Virginia Community College is seeking a dynamic self-starter to join our leadership team as the Director of PR and Marketing. As a presidential direct report, the Director will provide leadership and of the college's communications team which oversees both internal and external communications.
External responsibilities include telling Danville Community College's unique story and value proposition in a way that interests potential students and donors and bolsters the College's academic prestige, supports the college's student enrollment goals, and increases support from alumni and other key stakeholders; The Director will also create marketing and public relations strategies that allow Danville's leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media and other key constituencies.
Internal responsibilities include communicating college priorities, initiatives and accomplishments in a way that fosters commitment to the College's mission, values, and strategic plan to ensure that faculty and staff are well-informed. Additionally, the incumbent will work closely with senior administration and the deans to ensure that major college communications are consistent across academic and student services units with strategic objectives; and serves as the college's spokesperson when requested by the President. The Director reports to the President and serves on the Executive Cabinet.
Master's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution required, and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Professional experience in web design and web maintenance; experience with student information software and website interfacing; demonstrated skills in technical writing; considerable experience in marketing and public relations leadership in a complex enterprise. Demonstrated track record in brand development and management as well as substantial experience in web-based marketing and social media. Supervisory experience. Considerable working knowledge of PR and marketing principles and practices Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
At least 3 years of direct supervisory experience.
