The Lied Lodge & Conference Center resides within the 260 acres of Arbor Day Farm, which is a property owned & operated by the Arbor Day Foundation. It was created to give guests a place to experience nature in a comfortable setting.

Who we're looking for:
The Arbor Day Foundation is in search for a Director of Sales to lead the Sales team at the Lied Lodge & Conference Center.
We're looking for a leader with the ability to combine great sales disciplines with out of the box thinking.
The ideal candidate will excel at fostering a strong, cohesive team environment that builds confidence and inspires our Sales team to reach and exceed goals.
This role is responsible for managing the operations of the sales team, driving growth in revenue, & ensuring high levels of employee engagement and guest satisfaction.
The Director of Sales will report to the General Manager.

Essential Functions of the position:
Direct all activities of the hotel sales team, providing leadership and motivation necessary to implement effective sales and marketing strategies and to maximize the generation of hotel sales/revenues.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients in order to produce groups and convention business, to include room sales, food and beverage sales, catering/banquet services.
Develop and manage the departmental budget and monitor sales activities and performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan and to accurately report variances/projections.
Perform monthly forecasting of revenue (group rooms/banquet/catering monthly/annually)/P&L critique
Conduct/Attend Daily Brief and regular weekly revenue calls, daily Rev. Max meetings and monthly Pillar calls.
Provide General Manager (GM) with weekly sales updates, progress to pace, STAR report (weekly and monthly) trend and performance to market
Set quarterly Sales and Banquet/Catering Goal and review with GM for final approval.
Timely submit quarterly Sales and Banquet/Catering goals result to GM for review and approval
Coordinate Group Transient and Catering booking to maximize profits.
Operate and manage expenses within established hotel sales budget.
Develop hotel-level tactical sales and marketing plans to support overall system-wide sales plans/strategies and programs.
Ensure the execution of Sales plans.
Implement and train on sales standards.
Develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups and companies and attends out-of-town conventions to generate convention and group business.
Assists General Manager in the development and update of the hotel-level business plan to include input on sales goals and plans that support the overall business and sales strategies of the company. Maintains an effective business plan.
Recruit, hire, train and provide mentoring/development for all sales personnel; conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees using company hiring standards and guidelines.
Meet regularly and consistently with direct reports to ensure they feel supported in their day to day work and professional development.
Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
Comply with all department, hotel, and company policies and procedures.
Solicit new accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals.
Prospect for new clients which will include setting up appointments, perform inside and outside cold calls as recommended per solicitation goals for self.
Support sales team in achieving outside sales goals and assist with client site visits.
Plan and conduct sales blitzes.
Attend outside networking functions such as luncheons, chamber events, or other community/business-based networking receptions.
Use creativity and initiative to explore new ways to increase revenue.
Respond to all sales inquiries and voice mails by next scheduled business day.

Strong aptitude in financial management, financial reports and analysis
Must be able to read, write, & speak English.
Bachelors degree (any field)
Must have minimum of 2 years of experience as a Director of Sales in a full-service hotel
Valid Driver's License in good standing with the Department of Motor Vehicles
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the hospitality industry, have a strong sales and marketing background, sound administrative skills, and well-developed management skills.
Must possess advanced computational ability.
Must possess advanced Excel skills
Must possess advanced computer skills.
Ability to supervise situations and accomplish goals on a timely basis.
Thorough knowledge of OPERA or similar systems.
Must be able to work on-site at the Lied Lodge & Conference Center in Nebraska City.
