The Director of Marketing is in charge of a company's marketing efforts and strategies. The Director of Marketing's main focus is largely concerned with market segments, overall groups of consumers who are defined by a common interest, income, age, ethnicity, or other factors. The Marketing director ultimately seeks to discover which of those market segments will buy their organization's products or services and how to best present those products and services to the selected target market, while also finding new ways to gain interest from a larger variety of market segments. The Director of Marketing must work closely with other members within the company to obtain important customer/business information that will aid in effective advertising and communication ideas and platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities
Planning and executing marketing and communications strategies and tactics for Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que and its sCompanyidiary entities The Kansas City BBQ Store, The 180 Room, and SendJoesKCBQ.com
Creative direction of company advertising, external communications, signage, merchandise, and public relations
Serve as primary contact and liaison with graphic artists, photographers, web designers, and other vendors
Coordinate company advertising, external communications, and public relations activities
Assist in web design and maintenance
Serve as primary contact with local and national news media
Serve as primary company spokesperson
Serve as primary contact with television production companies seeking to film on premise and to feature the company in their television productions
Coordinate scheduled television shoots on site
Maintain company social media, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds. Includes, but is not limited to, creation of content, monitoring of feeds for positive and/or negative posts/feedback, response to customer posts
Consult with ownership and senior management on internal communications; develops and assists in the writing and editing internal policy memos and other communications
Content development, writing, and art direction of company customer publication, BURNT ENDS
Develop new product and advertising ideas by determining and evaluating current and future market trends
Develop and execute marketing programs that increase brand identity and brand awareness of the company and products
Obtain and negotiate sponsorship agreements
Supervise staff acting in marketing or communication capacity
Perform other duties as assigned
Direction Received Organize own work with very little direction
Analytical Requirements Duties are of a complex nature requiring judgment for which there are no precedents
Decisions and Judgment Acts as primary contact to public or customers on behalf of the organization
Initiative Complicated work with few precedents, performed independently, virtually without supervision
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 3 years' experience in advertising, public relations, mass media, marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 5 years of applicable experience preferred.
