Oracle E-Financials Developer

A good all-round' experienced developer is required to accelerate our clients move away from their Legacy finance systems. The initial focus of the work is the stabilisation and upgrade to the latest version of their existing finance system, a heavily modified implementation of eFinancials. This upgrade also involves a migration from Solaris to Linux, during which time crossplatform support is required of the integrations to those systems, and robustness and performance of the systems must be maintained.
. Demonstrate excellent, sustainable and collaborative software development practice that's focused on delivering highly readable, maintainable and appropriate artefacts.
. Actively participate in all team events, leading where specialist knowledge is required and supporting the team to improve their process through inspection and adaptation.
. Troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms, from the AWS-based modern stack to the multiple strands of ETL and database (Legacy and otherwise) that underpins the service.
. Engage with the wider communities of practice and interest to share knowledge, technique and experience.
Must have experience:
Significant commercial experience with the following technology:
. Advanced eFinancials
. Python 2.7/3.x
. REST APIs
. Oracle databases and Oracle PROC
. IPC mechanisms
Significant and demonstrable commercial experience in the following areas:
. Delivering high quality software collaboratively in high performing, cross-functional development teams
. Designing, gaining consensus, and implementing technical solutions for software development projects
. Working with the business, to understand the context, and to focus on delivering quality and value.
. Working to bring Legacy code bases up to date, adding source control, unit tests, error handling, code re-use, deployment mechanisms.
. Ensuring robustness of code via error-handling, alerting mechanisms, healthchecks, computer consumable logging, regardless of tools/language/environment.
. Multi-process parallelism, including how differing comms mechanisms, file i/o, function calling mechanisms etc may impact performance
. Developing solutions utilising sftp, lftp and Samba
. Developing code utilising ssh/scp.
. Using testing tools for unit testing, including system test automation frameworks
. Incrementally replacing enterprise Legacy systems
. Working in Agile delivery models
. Designing and developing with relational and NoSQL databases, particularly Oracle, Mongo and Postgres
Remote working for the foreseeable future. When the risk of COVID infection is eliminated or much reduced, we envision many of the team activities to take place at our offices in Edinburgh, for at least part of each week.
