This role contributes to the provision and support of the ESCC IT infrastructure and core applications, which are critical in support of both front line and back office service delivery. The role needs to maintain a full knowledge and understanding of its specific technology area and how it is used within ESCC and by partners. The role is responsible for planning and organising their own work and for providing assistance in the mentoring, coaching and training of colleagues. It has responsibility for the overall ownership and management of allocated work, including customer communication and appropriate escalation. It is essential that the role has a full understanding of the impact their technology area has on the business

Key Tasks

Maintain an awareness of emerging technologies and best practice within the IT industry to provide professional information, guidance and advice to County Council managers and County Councillors.

Contribute to the delivery of programmes of work and the provision of a high quality IT service to ensure the achievement of departmental, service and personal performance targets including agreed key performance indicators.

Resolve difficult incidents, problems and service issues in an appropriate and timely manner working flexibly, sometimes outside of normal core hours, in response to service demands and in accordance with County Council policies.

Assist in the, monitoring, review and development of IT systems, continuity plans, workloads and processes to improve performance and ensure best value for stakeholders and customers, recommending improvements as appropriate

Education &


IT Service Management best practice qualification.(Desirable but non Essential)

GCSE pass at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language or equivalent experience Knowledge

Full knowledge of policies & procedures and legislative requirements relevant to service area.

Demonstrate an appreciation of ICT Service Management best practice.

Broad knowledge of ICT technologies.

Knowledge and experience of using service management software.

Good theoretical knowledge of relevant technical or professional area.
