Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Training and Development, the Senior Director of Flight Training is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic vision, and fiscal aspects of pilot training in support of the Flight Operations Division.

Key Responsibilities

Direct all pilot and instructor training and evaluation activities conducted in the training center environment, including flight simulation training devices, but excluding line (aircraft) training and evaluation

Ensure that all training is conducted in accordance with company policies and directives and that they comply with the appropriate government and regulatory agencies

Maintain close working relationships with appropriate internal and external organizations, including: FAA, A4A, vendors, Flight, In-flight, HR, Safety, Tech Ops, ALPA, AFA and Airport Operations

Directly supervise the Fleet Training Managers, the Flight Training department staff, and the Instructor/Evaluators responsible for pilot training, and ensure they have the tools required to perform their duties

Ensure all Flight Training department staff are uniformly complying with Flight Division, Flight Training, and FAA policies, procedures, and guidelines; Responsible for cross-fleet training and evaluation standardization

Assist Flight Training department staff in the development of training and standardization policies, curricula, and guides for pilots, and instructor/evaluators

Participates in the selection of instructor/evaluators. Monitors activities of the instructor/evaluators to ensure adequate resources are available and that training and evaluation is standardized

Directs the continual analysis of training methods and procedures and initiates improvements that result in professional, high quality and cost effective training programs

Oversee the development and publication of all training materials for the training curriculum, training aids, the Training Manual and Instructor Guide

Oversee the annual budget requirements for the organization

Professional development, and other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree from a four-year accredited college or university

5 years experience in Part 121 air carrier training program delivery, or management

3 years supervisory experience leading individual employees as well as proven effective, people-focused leadership skills

If an HA seniority listed pilot, maintains flight qualifications and currency

Demonstrated competence in effective project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines and budget guidelines

Proven ability to build and maintain effective professional partnerships at all levels of a company and with companies, organizations, people outside of HA; credible; consistently presents self professionally (verbally, non-verbally, in writing, through behaviors, and dress and grooming)

Knowledge of regulatory record keeping requirements, including FAA Approved Computer Based Record Keeping programs

Knowledge and experience regarding the regulatory requirements involved in maintaining FAA Approved Training Programs

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal relationship and customer-focus skills; works effectively in teams, work groups, task teams, and independently

Demonstrated competence with technology

Self-starter, organized, detail-oriented with excellent follow through skills

Creative, able to create a motivational environment for employees; proven ability to affect/create positive change

Demonstrated ability to manage a detailed operating budget

Preferred Qualifications

Ten years experience in Part 121 air carrier training program delivery, or management
