Position Overview: The diversity and inclusion director will develop and implement the organization's diversity initiatives and strategy to attract, hire, and maintain a diverse workplace. The director is responsible for leadership and management of all inclusion and diversity programs and initiatives, diversity metrics, insights, surveys, internal and external customer consultation, building D&I capability both internally and within our programs as well as the inclusion and diversity culture and communications for all staff, managers, leadership team and board of directors.

Job Requirements - Qualified applicants must have:

Bachelor's degree and at least six to ten years of experience working in diversity and inclusion
Superior presentation skills with the ability to exert influence, inspire others, and articulate the mission, goals, and activities of Best Buddies with passion and enthusiasm
Proven experience in developing and managing a successful diversity and inclusion program
Experience in creating and delivering trainings in person and virtually
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proven dispute resolution skills
Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity laws and regulations
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to provide insights based on data trends
Strong initiative, drive for results, and self-assessment skills, and ability to lead individuals and teams in setting and achieving challenging goals
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management systems
Must be comfortable engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
Must travel, use personal cell phone, and work evenings and weekends as necessary to accomplish job responsibilities
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

Human Resources

Research, develop, recommend, and execute creative strategies to foster the organization's diversity goals
Review current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the organization's diversity goals
Work with the leadership team to create and implement a succession plan that includes a diverse talent pipeline
Collect and analyze statistical data to evaluate Best Buddies' population in accordance with diversity standards and goals
Draft and implement recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds
Partner with the director, training and development to create and deliver D&I education to drive inclusion, belonging and retention initiatives
Provide guidance to managers and the leadership team in developing objective performance and other employee evaluations and policies
Act as company liaison with government agencies concerning affirmative action and equal employment opportunities
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices
Provide training and policy updates to all staff to ensure compliance
Identify, develop and build relationships with industry leaders, consultants & partners to apply best practices to help drive an inclusive culture
Communicate D&I goals and objectives at all levels of the organization, including our board members
Leverage data to drive manager accountability and increase diverse talent mix within the organization
Analyze and report on diversity data and research trends to ensure best in class and innovative solutions are continuously integrated into inclusion programs and practices
Serve as the subject matter officer within the organization and work with each team as needed to assist them with their D&I goals. For example, work with the marketing team to create decks for our event or work with the program's team to assist with any local challenges etc.
Provide guidance and resources to Best Buddies' employee resource groups (ERG)
Identify relevant diversity and inclusion partnerships, organizations, events and vendors
Develop and execute programs and events, including cultural/heritage months, community dialogues and keynote speakers
