Job Description

You

As a Cloud Architect at Octo, you will serve as a cloud subject matter expert and trusted advisor providing technical support and architectural guidance to customers and internal teams. This role requires hands-on technical design and implementation in support of major government cloud programs. The Cloud Architect will also continually assess emerging products and services that improve the business of the clients we serve. As a domain expert with deep industry knowledge and business acumen you will also support business development by providing technical solutions, white papers, and customer support. Program Mission

The Cloud Architect directly supports the Cloud Center of Excellence within the office of the CTO and provides a full range of infrastructure architecture and engineering support to multiple federal agencies including server architecture design and maintenance, application hosting and administration, providing fixes and upgrade patches and ensuring cyber security compliance protections. You'll join a team balancing process-driven IT operations and lean engineering practices with an integrated culture of continuous improvement, coupled with innovation and high-quality support services.

Skills & Requirements

Requirements...

  • Demonstrate professional competence in the principles and practices of Cloud architectures
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies (network, compute, storage) and service delivery models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Experience with event driven and Real Time architectures (eg, Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience with cloud native/12-factor application architecture and microservices
  • Must be able to support DevSecOps activities
  • Good knowledge and understanding of federal cloud policy, regulations, and implementations (eg FedRAMP, FITARA, NIST, OMB, etc.)
  • Able to produce high-quality technical documentation
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and multitasking
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, planning, presentation and relationship building skills
  • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work

Desired Skills:

  • Containerization/ECS/EKS/Kubernetes
  • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform Experience
  • Experience with IT Operations
  • Experience with AWS CLI
  • AWS Well Architected Framework
  • Proficiency and Proven Hands-on experience AWS Services; EC2, CloudFormation, VPC, ALB, AWS Security, S3, RDS, EBS, ECS
  • Proven Experience in automation using (Shell, Python, Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
  • Experience in configuring and managing continuous integration systems (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.)
  • Infrastructure automation experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Experience with troubleshooting in networking and web standards such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, web security mechanisms, proxies, firewalls & application delivery controllers
  • Experience migrating systems to hybrid or fully cloud-based solutions
  • You must be up to date with best practices in securing OS, networks, data, and applications

Years of Experience: 12+ years of experience designing, executing and supporting enterprise and cloud solutions

Education: Bachelors degree in relevant technical field or equivalent experience (minimum 6 years)

Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

Location: Reston, VA

Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required, and/or DoD Secret preferred
