The Director, Student Wellness Promotion and Services is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services that address the needs of musicians, actors and dancers. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Health and Wellness, this position works in partnership with the Director, Counseling Services, and collaborates with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop and implement an engaging, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, holistic wellness program. This program will align with Divisional co-curricular competency areas as well as the College's Thrive initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic leadership to the staff and programs; setting wellness priorities, oversee assessment strategies to determine co-curricular learning outcomes.
Provide oversight and leadership to 2-3 professional staff members, 1 graduate intern in health education or a related field, and broad oversight of Peer Wellness Educator program.
Implement wellness programming including workshops and passive programming for students related to physical health, injury prevention for performing artists, alcohol and other drug use, body image, sexual health, nutrition, stress management, and other relevant wellness topics.
Create and lead grant-funded Reach Out committee. Reach Out is a donor-funded initiative that aims to educate, prevent, intervene and promote healthy behaviors in three primary areas: AOD use/abuse; sexual assault and interpersonal violence and abuse; and mental health/wellness as it relates to musicians, dancers and actors..
Assist Associate Dean in providing individual wellness consultations and referrals (eg, post-hospitalization care coordination, medical withdrawals, SAP wellness recovery plans, individualized interventions).
Serve on the College's behavioral intervention team.
Act as clinical liaison to our healthcare partner, Tufts Medical Center.
Implement and analyze the National College Health Assessment and other assessment tools, such as surveys, statistics, and focus groups, and report outcomes to stakeholders.
Oversees implementation of strategic communication and marketing plans; provides direction to team on relevant content.
Communicate with faculty and staff to assess wellness concerns on campus and develop programs to address these issues.
Oversee comprehensive alcohol prevention program composed of BASICS/CASICS sessions, and campus programming. Supervises staff to deliver BASICS/CASICS.
Oversees implementation of student health insurance program, including plan selection and waiver process.
Manage the wellness services budget.
Oversee on-campus contractors, including Physical Therapy, Massage, Yoga, Nutritionist and Alexander Technique providers.
Serve on a cross-departmental communicable disease response team. Serves in a liaison role with Boston Public Health Commission, Mass DPH, and other credible sources of information.
Serves as Senior On-Call in students affairs on-call rotation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The Director will provide direct oversight and leadership to 2-3 professional staff, 1 graduate intern in health education or related field and student health/wellness staff.
Supervisors are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment. Work is performed indoors and primarily in an office setting. The noise level is usually low to moderate. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel.

Demonstrated ability to effectively work with international students in meeting health and wellness needs.
Demonstrated ability to build inclusiveness into every aspect of health and wellness initiatives.
Familiarity with American College Health Association's Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education and related Guidelines and Recommendations and White Papers .
Demonstrated ability to apply strong ethical decision-making stills in alignment with relevant professional code of ethics.
Special Working conditions, physical requirements, etc: Serves as a member of the student affairs on-call response team.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Health Education, Public Health, Health Promotion, Social Work (or a related field) or BSN in Nursing with familiarity in college health.
Progressive experience and 5-7+ years of direct experience or previously served at the assistant/associate director level in health/wellness education and promotion.
Experience with programs, harm reduction approach to AOD use, alcohol screening and intervention.
