Senior Director, Business Process Optimization

Provides a key role as a process subject matter expert with a priority concentration on identifying and supporting process change critical to successful strategic corporate-wide initiatives. Develops and delivers business process improvement capabilities and best practices across all departments and functions within the organization.
Leads the improvement of processes and people-related aspects of business performance using specific tools, methods and measures to achieve results. Leads and facilitates approved process improvement initiatives; may generate process maps to support process improvement based on input from Subject Matter Experts for inclusion in procedural documentation.
Leads the development of process improvement strategies for internal and external customer and partner focus. Designs, develops and delivers training programs on the company's process improvement capability as requested.
Develops and manages framework/standardized processes and tools that enable best practice approach to manage process improvement in a strategic initiative portfolio including monthly management reporting, Key Performance Indicator and scorecard reporting. Creates and manages measurement systems to track engagement of process improvement team and demonstrated return on investment for initiatives/projects within the organization.
Acts as a business partner with key business leaders while identifying business process improvement opportunities, aligning and prioritizing them directly to business strategy and priorities. This includes building strong business partnerships, owning the business partner relationship with key functional areas (eg HR, Finance, IT, Operations Management, etc.) and delivering tangible business results through deploying problem solving and implementation techniques. Focus is on working as a business partner to understand business processes, scope and charter the work and then driving the improvement through working with the initiative team (ie leading, coaching and mentoring).
Line management responsibilities for staff members. For direct and indirect reports, may participate in and manage activities related to department staff operations such as interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%).
B.A./B.S. in the life sciences, computer science, information technology, business administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in a contract research organization, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company.
Ability to apply analytical skills in the evaluation of issues by examining and assimilating data; recognizing key variables; analyzing complex situations; and drawing appropriate conclusions in the identification of trends, opportunities to positively impact business processes and methods of addressing key business needs linked to corporate strategy.
Business Process Improvement and Project Management experience, process improvement certification preferred (eg Six Sigma Black Belt).
Flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines while delivering high quality work in a dynamic environment are essential.
Ability to quickly develop relationships and rapport with a broad range of stakeholders.
Experience in presentation, documentation, influencing, and interpersonal skills as well as a team-oriented approach.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based systems, voicemail, Email and Internet are necessary; basic MS Project skills are preferred.
