We are seeking a scientist to build our capabilities in tissue and cellular imaging. The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise in immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization, and quantitative image analysis to provide key insights and solutions to expand our in vivo delivery platform and advance therapeutic programs in hematology, immuno-oncology, and regenerative medicine.

Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance on experimental design, make recommendations regarding outsourcing vs insourcing, and ensure timely delivery of scientifically rigorous imaging data
Expand internal capabilities for embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence staining, in situ hybridization (ISH), and image analysis with an emphasis on process optimization and automation
Optimize and troubleshoot complex staining and imaging protocols; develop SOPs to guide internal work and for transfer to external partners
Perform validation, QC, and optimization of new reagents, including antibodies from both commercial sources and internal campaigns, off-the-shelf kits, and specialized detection reagents
Oversee work outsourced to external vendors
Partner with Facilities and Research Operations groups to configure a space dedicated to tissue and cellular imaging
Partner with IT group to develop solutions for sample submission and tracking, and to ensure seamless integration with Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and inventory/archiving system

Minimum Qualifications

MS in biology, biochemistry, immunology, pathology, or related field and 8+ years of highly relevant histology laboratory experience or PhD with similar background and 5+ years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with BA/BS degree and an extensive record of highly relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in histology and IHC, including chromogenic, fluorescence and multiplexed fluorescence methods
Extensive hands-on experience with the following:
Histoprocessing, embedding, FFPE and fresh frozen sectioning
Automated tissue processor and automated staining platforms (eg, Leica BOND RX, Ventana DISCOVERY ULTRA)
Validation, troubleshooting, optimization, and SOP generation for antibody reagents, including in multiplexed formats
Slide scanners (eg, Leica Aperio, 3DHISTECH Pannoramic Midi II)
Image analysis software (eg, HALO, Aperio)
An educator's mindset with a willingness to invest in communication with scientists and senior leaders, and a passion for mentorship of junior associates
A learner's mindset with a commitment to personal growth and a drive to broaden technical skills and scientific knowledge
The ability to think strategically, efficiently manage time and workflows, and work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment

Preferred Qualifications

ASCP HTL and/or QIHC certification
Hands-on experience with ISH methods, including BaseScope, RNAscope®, miRNAscope, and their application using automated staining platforms, including dual IHC/ISH approaches
Experience managing and mentoring junior associates
