The Senior Information Scientist brings new thinking and insights into the organization.
A key member of cross-functional matrixed teams including researchers, Digital and business colleagues, the senior information scientist will be accountable for leading the day-to-day operations of projects related to Information Sciences, managing timelines and deliverables for priority WRDM portfolio assets.
Lead and inspire a team of highly skilled information scientists in providing external literature and data to the WRDM community.
Continuous improvements to the efficiency, quality and cost of providing information services will be integral to the success of this position.
Partner with WRDM senior management to collaborate on information science solutions, eContent resource optimization, and consult on research search approaches.
Shapes thinking and vision on how information solutions and services can enable the WRDM strategy and goals for the Research Units.
Understands WRDM strategic direction and operational needs at the global and regional level.
Duties include setting objectives for and managing all information science activities, working closely with stakeholders to ensure search products meet research and business needs.
Influence and mentor other information professionals to develop expertise in cutting edge information applications.
Provide input into the strategic direction of the Pipeline Planning and Scientific Information group.
Hands-on information professional that is technically proficient, able to develop and support solutions to meet business needs.
Demonstrate the value of and continually improve information resources and services, including prioritization of existing and new resources.
Leads the evaluation of new information resources, technologies and search tools.
Knowledge and application of text mining, machine learning and artificial intelligence to current and future projects, while also driving the use of modern search technologies and global solutions in the areas of literature reporting, dashboards and visualizations.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate Policies and procedures and terms of publisher licensing.
Advise on approaches to integrate published information and proprietary information, enabling WRDM a competitive edge against industry peers.
Monitor the quality of information sciences and services to ensure a high standard of value-added services.
Point of accountability for administration, management, access control, and support of priority external resources. Includes planning for the procurement of licenses with suppliers and tracking of usage.
Master's Degree or Ph.D. with >10 years of relevant experience in Library/Information Science preferred.
>5 years people manager experience preferred.
Prior research experience preferred.
Considerable knowledge of science, medicine, and pharmaceuticals is essential.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
