Join our rapidly expanding Discovery Immunology team in Cambridge, MA. We are seeking a senior leader in Discovery who will discover new therapies to transform patient's lives, working together with colleagues in Spring House, PA and San Diego, CA. This Director role in Discovery Immunology will be focused on autoantibody driven Rheumatological and autoimmune diseases.

You will help build out a research team at our growing Cambridge, MA site, working closely with colleagues at two other sites to discover and advance new therapeutics in our portfolio.
You will mentor and lead a research team while working in a highly matrixed environment.
Our strategy and its implementation via our portfolio will impact patients and their families.
The successful candidate will be responsible for refining our strategy as well as advancing and delivering on our Discovery portfolio that targets autoantibody and/or regulatory pathways in autoimmune disease.
You will represent Discovery on compound development teams working with partner organizations such as Translational Medicine and Clinical Development.
You will participate on the Discovery Senior Leadership team to enable delivery on our portfolio programs and provide leadership.
We pursue the most promising science, wherever it might be found.
You will be responsible for establishing and running collaborations with academic and clinical thought leaders to access state of the art expertise/technologies that drive innovative approaches to drug discovery.
You will partner with our Innovation Centers and Business Development teams to explore external opportunities.
The successful candidate will:
Have a balance of deep technical background, exceptional communication and collaboration skills and a honed ability to build relationships
Proven strategic thinking and approaches to building and advancing a diverse portfolio in a variety of diseases
Work in a collaborative environment where ideas can be respectfully challenged to drive excellence and innovation
PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience is required. Previous experience with B cells, autoantibodies or antibody effector mechanisms is strongly preferred.
Drug discovery and project leadership experience is required, with a track record of success in advancing drug discovery programs into clinical development. Previous experience leading small molecule programs is strongly preferred.
Strong verbal and written communications skills in a variety of forums, previous experience working and leading in a matrixed environment, is required.
Previous line management experience and mentorship is required.
Establishing and maintaining effective internal and external collaborations is required.
Small molecule experience is preferred.
Experience conducting due diligence and evaluation of business development opportunities is preferred.
Up to 15% travel is required.
