Senior Director, Professional and Adult Education Forum

The Senior Director leads the Professional and Adult Education Forum (PAEF), a signature research product at EAB. The Forum serves 200+ higher education institutions across North America, providing strategic advice on the most pressing financial and mission-consequential issues related to professional, adult, online, continuing, and non-degree education today. The Senior Director will be primarily responsible for setting product strategy and driving compelling research agendas and projects that drive partner outcomes and EAB revenue growth. Additional key responsibilities include managing the Market Insights function, product innovation, team management, and consultative support to clients.

This person will work closely with Research leadership and teams, as well as other departments in the firm, including Research Growth Strategy, Research Advisory Services, Research Sales, Marketing, Account Management, Partner Success, Partner Engagement, and Adult Learner Recruitment. A successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in professional and adult education issues and product strategy - and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

EAB's research forums offer strategic guidance at scale: we help executives make progress on their most pressing financial and mission-consequential issues. EAB research helps clients educate stakeholders on campus, make research-informed decisions, and speed the implementation of recommended practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

Research Leadership: You are the intellectual leader of research initiatives in the Forum's core terrains: understanding shifts in adult learner behavior, marketing and recruiting adult and professional students, and designing market-responsive credentials. You must ensure that EAB has a clear point-of-view on emerging challenges, provide clear advice and implementation support to professional and adult education leaders making critical decisions in these areas and educating executive leadership teams and boards about adult and professional education strategy. You set and execute compelling research agendas - and you manage complex research projects from conception to completion. Continually use market feedback from clients and client-facing teams to ensure research is actionable and cutting-edge for clients. You collaborate with other research leaders in other terrains and products to share best practices, emerging trends, and elevate the insights and quality of research on other teams.

Terrain Expertise: Develop and maintain terrain mastery over primary issue areas for professional and adult education units. Specific terrains include adult student preferences and search behavior, marketing and recruiting, program launch, prioritization, and portfolio management, marketing and recruiting, employer partnerships, alternative and nontraditional education providers, and organizational design and transformation to support revenue goals. You are encouraged to expand the Forum's terrain expertise based on market feedback and opportunity.

Product Strategy: You collaborate with Research leadership (including Research Growth Strategy) to set and execute 6- and 12- month product roadmaps for the product. Partner with Research Marketing, Sales, Account Management, and Partner Success to develop compelling commercial and service strategies to drive clear partner outcomes and revenue growth for the business. Identify opportunities to innovate and grow the professional and adult education product through new services and value drivers for clients.

Market Insights: EAB's signature service to enable data-informed growth and decisions at higher ed institutions (serves 350+ partners and completes 1200+ projects per year). Manage the 20-person market insights team, including strategic direction, day-to-day operations, and product quality and innovation. Manage external partnerships with key market intelligence organizations to strengthen the value of EAB's market insights service.

Team and Talent Management: Manage research project teams (2-4 staff) and the Market Insights research team (~20 staff). Manage, coach, and develop individual staff to effectively execute on strategic priorities. Manage teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and consistent with EAB's quality standards.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, with an excellent academic record
8-10+ years of post-Bachelor's work experience
In-depth understanding of education industry and the specific role that professional and adult education executives play in setting strategy and decision making
Superior verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills: able to create compelling narratives through written deliverables, data visualization, graphics, and slides.
Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills
Experience with at least three of the following:
Professional, online, continuing, and adult education
Corporate partnerships or executive education
Management or strategy consulting
Product strategy, market positioning, or brand management
People/team management
2-year or 4-year education
Long-term or primary and secondary research

Ideal Qualifications:

Advanced degree
Experience working with client executives, either at a college, university, district, or school or as a consultant or advisor.
Demonstrated ability to distill market and terrain insights, drawing on client interactions.
Experience producing written content and deliverables for an executive-level audience (eg, blogs, briefings, presentations)
