Within the department of Tech Dining, the Director of Catering provides expertise, management, and oversight of over $2 million in annual catering sales. Responsibilities include ensuring day-to-day catering objectives and events are consistently met, and standards are maintained to ensure the best campus catering experience possible. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
This position will interact on a regular basis with: This position will interact on a regular basis with many levels of faculty, staff, students, and vendors associated with Tech Dining. The position will also interact with senior leadership positions and highly visible campus personnel for priority events.
This position typically will advise and counsel: This position will primarily advise and counsel other staff members and vendors with Tech Dining.

Job Duty 1 -
Strategically prioritize resources to execute highly visible and sensitive events while growing the overall operation and remaining profitable.
Job Duty 2 -
Plan and direct the execution of all catering events on campus including staffing, menu development, communication with the production staff and ensuring the delivery of quality of service and a superb customer experience.
Job Duty 3 -
Lead the catering plans and events with the culinary team and other members of staff to ensure the successful execution of multiple daily events; plans event menus in consultation with the culinary team; acts as a liaison with suppliers.
Job Duty 4 -
Hire, train, and manage operational personnel and supervises all related catering events and activities.
Job Duty 5 -
Strategically partner with departmental leadership to plan, develop, and manage unit budget to ensure fiscal controls (including cost of goods sold, labor targets and controllable expenses).
Job Duty 6 -
Ensure the appropriate sanitation, organization, and safety standards are met by using checklists, performing hands-on supervision, and follow up on all catered events to ensure excellence.
Job Duty 7 -
Responsible for the ordering, storing, upkeep and inventory of catering equipment, small wares, china, and glassware.
Job Duty 8 -
Work with marketing team to develop promotions and special events for Tech catering.
Job Duty 9 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Other Required Qualifications
Current ServSafe Certification or other Georgia approved food safety certification, A valid Drivers License.
Eight to Ten years of job related experience, to include a minimum of 3 years of experience as a catering manager with direct reports.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelors degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Requires the ability to work a very flexible schedule.
This position requires skills in working with HACCP and ServSafe or other comparable food safety programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires skills in customer service, employee relations, financial analysis, and operational execution. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products are needed for this job. Additional skills in researching new ideas and trends in university dining to meet the needs of customers.
