Vice President of Program Design

The Vice President of Program Design is responsible for the successful programmatic outcomes across the organization. This position leads the Program Design team, working to ensure the high academic performance and holistic development of students through College Track's 10-year commitment to each individual. The Vice President of Program Design will lead program innovation, fidelity, and efficacy in College Track's core service areas: Academic Affairs, Student Life, Wellness, and College Completion.
Reporting directly to the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and serving as a key part of the national leadership team, the Vice President of Program Design drives dramatic academic gains and college completion rates across all College Track's sites. This position is responsible for strengthening the quality and outcomes of College Track programs and increasing the percent of College Track students who are eligible for and attend 4-year colleges.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Lead, develop, organize, manage and evolve program design function which includes program design and innovation; role specific content training; research and data analysis.
Provide leadership and strategic direction in the development of a vision and plan for academic achievement of students, including experience with virtual learning, and professional development of staff to strengthen program outcomes across the organization.
Lead the organization in the continuous cycle of innovating, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of all student services, ensuring consistency, and quality and improvement across programs and compliance with all policies, practices and procedures.
Serve as a key member of the national leadership team and function as the program innovation and design expert and advocate for the organization.
Lead, manage and coach the Program Design team to best support programmatic goals and grow and develop team members individually.
Advise and assist the CPO in areas related to program design and identifying and cultivating partnerships synergistic to College Track programs.
Advise the CPO and other senior staff of relevant secondary and post-secondary educational issues and trends.
Work in collaboration with the VP of Organizational Performance to generate analyses that inform the organization on progress related to our benchmark goals;
Oversee and responsible for the department budget.
Project short-term and long-term needs of the programs and lead the program design team in change management to meet needs.
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a cooperative environment where students, staff, and parents flourish in a culture of service and support.
Skills & Experience Required
First and foremost, the Vice President of Program Design must embrace the College Track vision of transforming low-income communities into places where college readiness and college graduation are the norms. S/he must embody and model College Track core values and model a deep commitment to improving education equity.
Additionally, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of leadership and management experience in a school, district and/or student facing non-profit environment, including management experience in an educational environment across a multi-site organization.
Excellent strategic planning, project management, and organization skills; able to focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the details.
Strong strategic thinking skills with an ability to articulate a clear, compelling vision, using data to inform decisions, including external research and internal innovation, and to translate strategy to plan to action.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development for both in-person learning and virtual learning via education technology platforms, with a track record of successful implementation and change management.
Proven ability to recruit, hire, develop and retain effective, diverse teams and to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Demonstrated success in staff leadership, management, and development.
Demonstrated ability to manage large and complex operating budgets.
Track record of achieving strong results while building and fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
Proven team-and culture-building experience and the ability to create a sense of cultural inclusion among staff, students, parents and volunteers;
Extensive experience using data to inform practice and drive outcomes.
Demonstrated track record of successfully working with present or future first generation college students, including:
Proven ability to drive significant academic gains at a school or nonprofit dedicated to students facing systemic barriers.
Awareness of best practices in the after-school, post-secondary and general educational arenas and the ability to impart this information effectively to achieve desired results.
