The Director of Channel Strategy will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic direction and key programs and partnerships to drive the sale and distribution of Cengage products. As part of the Cengage strategy team, the Channel team develops and executes Cengage's channel strategy, optimizing the delivery of our offerings to the market via successful relationships with channel partners, and optimization of channel data analytics and operations. This position will report to the VP of Channel Strategy and Operations.
What Youll Do Here:
Work cross-functionally with channel management, strategy, product, sales, operations, finance, marketing and technology teams to design, build and implement channel strategic initiatives - driving both innovation of new initiatives, and execution and continuous improvement of existing programs
Act as Cengage expert on strategic programs and work closely alongside Channel Managers to support implementation of these programs with channel partners
Ensure alignment of programs with coverall company strategy
Create consistent structure and framework for partner contracts, business reviews, and prepare review analyses and presentations in conjunction with Channel Managers
Ensure smooth implementation of new programs, and address any related issues
Lead development and ongoing management of channel data analytics, insights and both internal and external channel-related operational processes, ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness
Skills You Will Need Here:
4-year degree plus 8+ years of strategic and operational, customer-focused experience in a consulting, digital, software, retail, or information/publishing industry environment, working with complex value propositions and enterprise customers
Demonstrated experience developing and using analytics to understand trends, establish strategic practices, build compelling business cases and drive sound decision-making
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Highly resourceful, stellar execution skills (strategy through implementation).
Strong skills in organizing and prioritizing
Ability to work with executive level contacts at both Cengage and channel partners
Experience in project management, financial analysis, and team management
Demonstrated experience driving innovation and process improvement that enable the business to achieve its objectives
Digitally savvy and experienced with leveraging technology platforms
An adaptive leader and change agent who is comfortable with ambiguity
Strong leadership qualities and skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff. Proven ability to lead by sharing a common vision, gaining buy-in, building trust and coaching.
Proven track record of leading and influencing; exceptional collaboration, relationship and consultative skills with demonstrated success building partnerships with internal and external contacts at all organizational levels in a matrixed environment
Availability and ability to travel overnight, potentially a few nights per month
