In keeping with the mission of DCS&SS to provide credit and noncredit programming for a wide variety of audiences, the Director plays a vital role in the development and implementation of all Precollege programs and initiatives. The Director provides overall administrative management, development, and coordination of all DCS&SS Precollege offerings, including summer programming as well as current and future year-round initiatives. The Director is responsible for providing leadership in delivering and evaluating the curriculum and pedagogies of the academic components of all DCS&SS programming regardless of modality and in accordance with University priorities, policies, and procedures. This staff member reports to senior Academic Affairs staff within the Office of the Provost and manages a team devoted to providing DCS&SS programming activities in a Precollege setting. Additional staff management responsibilities may be required in accordance with DCS&SS operational growth.


PROGAMMATIC DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION, AND OVERSIGHT
Provide curriculum development, programmatic implementation, and budgetary oversight over all Precollege programs, initiatives, and activities; administer comprehensive logistical oversight over all Precollege programs to sure that programs are offered in a consistent, strategic, and timely fashion responsive to market trends.
Review, oversee, and evaluate all academic materials to deliver academic offerings that align with the mission and brand of the University.
Ensure that all Precollege initiatives comply with Duke University rules, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to, the Minors in Duke University Programs Policy.
Oversee the recruitment process and manage the applicant process for all Precollege programs.
Collaborate with University departments, faculty, and staff to identify, promote, and offer Precollege programming in response to trends in the educational landscape.
Serve as primary liaison for all student and/or parent concerns arising out of Precollege programming and respond accordingly while implementing necessary realignments.
Promote Precollege programming through attendance at high school fairs, conferences and other marketing engagements.
Develop, oversee, and manage budgets for Precollege offerings and provide financial reports in accordance with DCS&SS guidelines.


HUMAN RESOURCES/TRAINING ACTIVITIES
Coordinate the hiring and onboarding processing for all seasonal hires in collaboration with the Business Manager; screen, interview, and deliberate on assigned employee search and hire committees.
Design, develop, and deliver training activities appropriate for the Precollege setting to all staff, including but not limited to, seasonal staff.
Collaborate with Staff & Labor Relations, Duke HR, Office of Institutional Equity, and Counsel's Office in concert with senior Academic Affairs staff within the Office of the Provost to meet University policies and DCS&SS objectives.


CENTRAL OPERATIONS

Provide advice and consultation to all DCS&SS directors to promote innovative programming across the organization and enhance brand identity.
Supervise and coordinate the work of designated employees; manage HR activities to meet University and departmental objectives and policies including training, performance evaluation, salary administration and related activities; interpret departmental and University policies and procedures, making decisions on specific operating problems and issuing instructions in accordance with departmental precedents and policies.
Represent department head in internal and external meetings and conferences and other affairs of an administrative nature.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described above.


Minimum Qualifications


Education
Work requires communications, analytical and organization skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelors degree program. Masters degree in a related field preferred.


Experience


Position requires a minimum of 5 years related experience.
