Emory University hosts numerous centers, institutes and university-wide multi-disciplinary programs and services that facilitate a range of research, teaching, and community engagement both on campus and beyond. The Director of Development II of University Centers, Institutes and Programs will oversee the complete range of advancement and engagement strategy and activities related to major and principal gift fundraising for Emory Global Health Institute, Emory Center for Ethics, Emory Office of Spiritual and Religious Life, and other select university-wide campaign programs and priorities. This is a unique role that will strategically analyze and develop a fundraising foundation for a variety of diverse areas spanning an exciting breadth of study, research, and engagement. The Director of Development II will manage center or unit AAE staff, facilitate partnerships with the key areas of Advancement and Alumni Engagement, as well as collaborate across departments within the various centers and institutes. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement Graduate Schools and Units.
Develops and implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting individuals, corporations, and foundations for gifts of $100K - $1M to support educational and research programs for a department, school, or unit.
Solicits gifts of $100K - $1M in support of the school/unit.
Manages a portfolio of prospects through an active schedule of solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship calls to donors and new prospects in support of strategic priorities.
May develop school/unit strategic planning and goal setting.
Builds relationships among prospective donors, alumni, and volunteers to support programs and priorities.
Builds relationships with faculty, deans, and division/University leadership to develop, interpret, and align priorities of the school/unit with donor goals/interests.
Partners with central advancement offices to ensure that potential gift prospects are properly qualified, cultivated, and stewarded.
May develop and oversee writing/production of appropriate fundraising materials including, but not limited to, case statements, brochures, solicitation letters, gift proposals, appreciation letters, donor reports, and campaign status reports.
Ensures the maintenance of information on selected donors and prospects including contact reports in CRM system.
Communicates in ways that are donor-centric, while furthering the mission of Emory.
Travels to meet with donors as needed.
May manage support and professional staff.
May manage the operations of the department/program and budgets.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Director II may be required to:
Meet division metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
Represent the department, school/unit, division, or University.
A bachelors degree and six years of experience in higher education, development, fundraising, healthcare, or equivalent experience in a non-profit institution.
Cover Letter Required for Consideration
Successful candidates will possess experience as lead solicitor, closing gifts between ($25,000 -$100,000) from gift prospects.
Prior experience working with comprehensive campaigns, alumni engagement, or a university setting.
Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as effective presentation skills.
