Vice President, Business Development Life Sciences

The Vice President of Business Development Life Sciences is responsible for M&A and strategic work for the Bruker NANO Group (BNANO). This position will work closely with the President of BNANO to develop strategy that is complementary to and extending beyond individual Division strategy. He/she will lead specific projects in Business Development including new market segment strategy as well as M&A targeting and acquisition execution. This position will also be critical in the development of market strategy for targeted strategic investigations in terms of new product areas or new market areas. The VP of Business Development Life Sciences must have skill in developing compelling business plans, in financial analysis, and in project management for special strategic projects.
There are two main focus areas of this position. The first is to define and characterize interesting market segments for growth. The second is to help in the identification of acquisition targets and the development of acquisition business cases.
The VP of Business Development Life Sciences responsibilities require an international outlook and familiarity with business opportunities worldwide.
Strategy development and market segment analysis.
Develops business cases for the entry into new market areas. Works to understand market needs and defines market roadmaps in identified, key target segments. High attention to defining unmet needs for new market opportunities
Development of segment entry proposals.
Formulates acquisition ideas. Writes business cases for those acquisitions.
Leads specific partnering and acquisition projects in Business Development.
Provides segment guidance and insights to the product business units
MS in a technical discipline is required (Ph.D. preferred); MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
A minimum of 15 years of work experience in life science discovery and translational research segments. Experience preferably related to single-cell analysis instruments, flow cytometry, microscopy, or sequencing. Familiarity with applications in oncology and immunology related instrumentation and protocols. A minimum of 5 years marketing management and/or marketing roles. Experience in M&A is a plus.

Skills in voice of the customer techniques. Knowledge of product and market promotion strategies. Ability to run a disciplined acquisition process.
