Director, People Partner

We are looking for an experienced Director, People Partner who will be a strategic partner to leaders, enabling excellence in our people and promoting an innovative and diverse culture to drive business results.
In this role, you will collaborate with leaders, employees, and members of People team, be a trusted advisor, build effective relationships, and provide solutions that enable business strategies, foster leadership success, and drive the employee experience. To be successful in this role, you will be required to use your creativity, critical thinking skills, and be able to navigate through ambiguity in a hyper growth and ever-changing environment.
This is a critical role to support the business growth and evolution while fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and innovation.
Reporting to the VP, Head of People, the Director, People Partner will build a strong consultative relationship with business leaders, and partner with them to plan and execute People programs and initiatives, including organizational design, employee engagement, succession planning, talent calibrations, team effectiveness, leadership development, and more.
Provide input to the People strategy and roadmap, and execute on the implementation of talent management and engagement programs.
Support managers and employees by leveraging people programs, processes, and systems, educating on policies and best practices.
Create and facilitate programs to develop staff & managers at all levels.
Provide ongoing coaching and development feedback to managers and individual contributors
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations in a consistent, empathetic, and legally sound manner.
Works closely with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Consults with line management and employees, providing HR guidance on a variety of topics including policy interpretation and career development.
Provides day-to-day performance guidance to line management (eg, coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions).
Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
Partner with People Partner colleagues and leaders to design & implement specific programs and initiatives directly aligned to business strategy in the areas of performance management, recognition, career development, organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, compensation and employee relations.
Provide compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, promotions and job re-leveling.
Keep up-to-date knowledge of employment law requirements to ensure Amyris remains compliant.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field. Advanced degree and PHR certification are a plus
10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
At least 5 years in a HRBP role.
A broad base of human resources experience is a must, as well as, a strong track record and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in the life sciences industry and in small, high-growth companies built on pioneering science is a plus
Proactive collaboration within the HR team and demonstrated ability to impact and influence leaders.
In-depth experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams.
Strong attention to detail, highly entrepreneurial, creative, open-minded, persistent, highly collaborative and passion for and understanding of Amyris business.
Strong project management, effective organizational skills, business and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking and analysis with high attention to detail a must.
Analytically driven; fluent with data-driven analysis.
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
